3 out of 5 eggscheap works , not very durable

Pros: The cheapest 8 port kvm switch that i could find.
Worked great out of the box in windows and linux.

Cons: ports 1 and 2 failed within a year and half of use... i barely use this device ... all my access is remote... luckily i have only six servers so it will do.

the electric network is protected , the ambiance temperature is controlled, i wonder what happened .

2 out of 5 eggsWireless mice

Pros: It functions out of the box and was easy to set up.

Cons: This KVM does not work with wireless mice which was not specified in the advertisement. It also has a problem with some wired mice.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

Pros: A few issues with mouse/keyboard in BIOS/DOS environments.
SeaTools in UBCD will not recognize mouse, but keyboard works. Of course, DOS doesn't officially support USB, so I can't blame TrendNET.

Every so often (maybe once a week at a full-time computer refurbishing job) I'll have a port "go bad" where any computer you plug into it will never recognize and initialize the USB device. A quick power-cycle fixes things.

By far the cheapest 8-port USB KVM available anywhere, even including cable costs.

Cons: As mentioned above, slightly buggy, on occasion, but always easily remedied.

Other Thoughts: Don't forget to order cables.

4 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: This is now in our server rack ... I bought it because I needed to get rid of the old PS2 KVM switch and get something that supported USB ... and for the price it's great.
There's no On-Screen-Display and no security options ... but if you don't need those two things this KVM is an excellent choice.

Cons: none

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: This product was great to begin with. I rarely had to switch between monitor but when I needed to, this KVM was good.

Cons: After using it roughly for 3 months, one of my ports died. Then 2 weeks later, some more died. This is just unacceptable. Mind you this KVM was barely used.

If it was just 100 dollars that's fine but I had to pay another 100 dollars for some cables that will no longer work if I switch to a different KVM is absurd. My IT room has enough stuff in it as is.

Other Thoughts: i don't leave anything less than a 2star unless the product is absolutely nonfunctional. If the product really wow me, I will indicate as such.

5 out of 5 eggsSame unit as avocent.

Pros: Short depth 1RU chassis w/included rack ears. Fast and very responsive switching, even when using keyboard hot keys. Recognizes systems that do not have USB connected (VGA output of CCTV DVR.) Instant recognition of connected system (as compared to other units which recognize video about 3/4 though POST, making BIOS changes difficult.)

Cons: crinkly sounding plastic protection on unit from the factory.

Other Thoughts: If you need OSD (on screen display) functionality, get the TK-804R instead. If you need low cost reliable VGA KVM switching, this is the unit to get.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Well

Pros: Has a nice small profile, takes up little space on the rack. Great price for an 8 port kvm.

Cons: Some small visual tears seen in video display when switched to 2008 server boxes, but this could be due to the current monitor I am using and about to replace.

Other Thoughts: Can't be beat for the price, so far so good.

4 out of 5 eggsAfter 2 years still going strong

Pros: Single Cable to the input port, Keyboard switching, and PS2/USB input

Cons: Have no have a problem yet.

Other Thoughts: It would be nice if it was a DVI instead of D-SUB, and also if it includes audio switching. But so far I have yet to find a KVM that is 8+ port, DVI and Audio with USB switching.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked... at first.

Pros: When it worked, the KVM setup was easy, switching worked nice and it had a quick monitor response.

Cons: After a month, the KVM would "lose" machines. Sometimes, they would show display only and the mouse and keyboard wouldn't work. Other times, they would come back fully functional. Other times, I would have keyboard and no mouse. As of today, when I press the space bar on my keyboard (and I've tried a few), sometimes the KVM will relay a space and other times it will function more like the ALT+TAB key sequence. Tried in Linux and Windows and both give me similar issues.

Other Thoughts: Trendnet support is actually quite good. They offered to do an advance replacement for me, free of charge. They said I should have the new unit in 8 to 10 business days. Not too shabby considering it's only a $100 KVM.

3 out of 5 eggsLasted 8 month

Pros: Easy to hook up and switched between ports fairly quick. The status light are well laid out and let you know what port is active and when a server is down. This was used in a surveillance application so there were no real intense graphic demands but the display was acceptable for this application.

Cons: After 5 months one of the ports died. This unit is maybe switched 30 times a month from server to server so there is little use. After 8 months another port died. I am going to replace it with another brand as I expected this to last about 5 years given the amount of use.

Very Nice KVM

4 out of 5 eggs
Very nice solid metal KVM. The rack mounts are solid and everything about this feels sturdy. Easy plug cables (sold separately!) ...
