3 out of 5 eggsReview update from 11/17/2014

Pros: Easy set up right out of the box.

Cons: Stopped working after a few weeks Trendnet support did not help. They did respond to my situation several times in a timely manner. I did get it working and have informed Trendnet (Adrian) what got it working. Unfortunately over the almost month of working this problem, I have been without the use of both PCs and have purchased another KVM switch which I now do not need. It has been a frustrating and costly month. I will add 2 eggs to my previous rating because I do like my TK-209K KVM switch now that I have it working.

1 out of 5 eggsStopped working

Pros: Easy to set up.

Cons: Stopped recognizing my mouse or keyboard after several weeks. Trendnet support could not help me to get it working.
The same thing happened to my TK-409K KVM switch.

Other Thoughts: Very dissatisfied Trendnet customer.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Stan,

We are sorry to hear that you had an issue with the TK-209K. If an issue like this occurs a typical power cycle should recover the unit. Because it is bus powered you need to disconnect both sets of KVM cables from the unit at the same time for it to lose power. If this was tried and was not successful please email and we can have someone assist you with a request for warranty services.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: As KVM's go this has all the features one would look for in a 2 port KVM. Where the audio in and out as well as the keyboard, video and mouse get switched is the way to go.

Cons: Video was fuzzy and distorted on the item I received. It will cost me half of what I paid to ship this back to either Newegg or Trendnet so I probably will file this item in the circular file.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Got this as one of my comps is primarily usb and my ps/2 KVM switch was problematic with it. Seems to work well.

Cons: I'm taking off an egg as the hot key switching is software based and unless the computer's on, it doesn't switch comps.

Other Thoughts: Though this KVM switch does the job, it would have been nice to have the hot key switching part of the switch firmware like my ps2 switch is. That's a great feature.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat KVM switch

Pros: Does a great job of hooking up two separate computers to the switch using VGA, USB KB and Mouse, Headphone jack and MIC in. Like how the switch is powered through USB that runs off the VGA cable.

Cons: Nothing yet.

Other Thoughts: have not used the MIC since I don't need it. wrapped the audio in cables using plastic conduit to make sure EMI does not interfere

4 out of 5 eggsUsing w/o VGA

Pros: It switches works great without any video quality loss by using my monitor to switch between VGA and DVI. PC 1 connected to DVI and PC 2 connected to VGA.

This just means two buttons to push instead of one.

Cons: I has to get a USB keyboard instead of my old PS2 keyboard that I liked.

1 out of 5 eggsBroke Quickly

Pros: Worked when I first hooked it up

Cons: Stopped working the first month. First I was unable to share my keyboard and mouse but the video worked so for what I was doing with it, I worked around it. By the 6th month the entire unit died. No lights , unresponsive

Other Thoughts: Not sure if I can get a refund

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Product, Great Value

Pros: Ease of Use, Comes with necessary cables required for operation, Performs exactly as it should, Compact size, Sturdy build.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This 2 port KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) device performs exactly as it should.

In the box, you will find all the necessary cables required to clear your desktop clutter by reducing the need for an additional monitor and input devices (mouse, keyboard). The included cables are proprietary so care should be exercised not to lose or damage them.

This device also allows for Audio and Microphone input so you will not have to bother with switching either around, just click a button and you are ready to record or listen to your active computer!

The instructions are straight forward and easy to follow and will have you up and running in no time.

Switching between computers could not be easier, just select your computer by depressing a tactile button on the top of the device and "poof" you are accessing your computer. A green LED lets you know which computer is currently in use.

This particular model, the TK-209K, supports standard RGB input so if you need DVI or other input compatibility, you will need to look elsewhere.

If you are looking for an easy to use, easy to setup, inexpensive solution for using 2 computers with one monitor, keyboard, mouse, set of speakers and microphone, I would recommend this device. In fact, I bought two of them. Just ensure that your computers have the necessary RGB ports required for this model.

Other Thoughts: Include any required software with the product. I just wanted to change the hot key.
