Pros: Works great. Good variety of KB shortcuts, too (read the whole instruction booklet.) I have a USB wireless KB and Mouse connected via position 4 to a server 15ft away. No loss or lag.

Good price compared to competition. Includes mic and speakers.

Cons: A common complaint is that TRENDnet will not sell the longer cables separately. (You get two long and two short with this switch.) The short cables can really be too short.

I ordered TrippLite's 6 ft. cable for the B042-Series KVM Switch (P780-006) from Newegg, item=N82E16812120587.
Tried it and it works great.

Other Thoughts: The only caveat is that the Tripplite cable does not include the speaker/microphone leads.But that's a separate cable with TRENDnet's anyway, and they're easy enough to find.

Pros: came with (way too short) cables. Also came with (way too short) audio stereo cables. Too short = 6'. Way too short = 4'. The unit seems well made with good action on the buttons.

Cons: Didn't work. No video, no KB and no Mouse switching. Weird cable setup: 1 USB + 1 PS2 with a warning on it NOT to use it if you use the USB connector. Video is done by old style 15 pin connector which is useless with a DVI or Displayport connector. A DVI (with the 4 analog) pins by the blade to a 15 pin adapter didn't get video. I stated with USB for KB & Mouse and got nada. The same thing happened when I unplugged the USB connector and used the PS/2 connector. Manual, if you can call it that consists of a shortcut guide. No troubleshooting tips,no phone number for support.

It would be very nice if there was a wired or even better a wireless remote.

Overall a useless and a total waste of time for me. Will RMA.

Other Thoughts: It's about time that KVM makers began to make reasonably priced KVMs that worked with DVI and Displayport connections and not 20+ year old VGA connectors. TImes have changed!

Pros: Switches between three small servers. No problems, works great.

Cons: None

Pros: Made out of metal.

Cons: Everything else. USB cables to short. Need to buy a extension cable to get this to work. USB never worked on any of the 4 ports. No mouse, no keyboard, no nothing.

Other Thoughts: I have two of Trendnets server 8 port units that work with out issue and this piece of junk can't even support a single USB mouse or keyboard.

Pros: I tried the Linkskey kvm and could not get it to recognize my monitor. This one picked it up with no problems. Using Usb for keyboard & mouse. No problems at all.

Cons: Cables are a little short. That is the only con I can think of.

Other Thoughts: I am hooking up to two Windows 7 computers and had no problem picking up my devices.

Pros: Very solid construction, snug cable fit, works most of the time.

Cons: I initially set this up with an older PS2 keyboard that I love and want to use until it dies. Everything seemed to work well, but then when playing a FPS game I found that it misses a lot of key presses. This means when you try to move your avatar, sometimes you'll just stand there and take a rocket to the face. Not cool. (there goes an egg). So I'm now using a USB keyboard, but about 1 in 4 reboots of the PC the keyboard is non-functional, requiring a hot-plug of its USB connection to the switch. Also not very cool. (another egg)

Other Thoughts: I really wanted to like this box, since it's nice and heavy and looks like it means business, but it just doesn't deliver all the goods. The two short cables everyone has mentioned are also fairly useless for a typical setup.

Pros: Sturdy build
PS2 + USB support
Double-scrolllock hotkey (as opposed to crazy combinations that my old one used)
Separate button for each device on the unit rather than a single "next device" button.

Device worked out of the box with my aging PS2 keyboard and two different USB mice attached to it at the same time (trackball and mouse, I swap between them often) - it automatically emulates USB keyboard support (no need to connect the PS2 cable to each computer).

Cons: Two of the cables are annoyingly short - I was able to make it work, but most of my machines aren't all that close.

After one month of use, one of the ports stopped working properly with USB (PS2 worked) - I tried a power cycle, swapping cables, swapping computers, but that wasn't enough. After 30 minutes on the phone with tech support who was hard to understand, we found that completely removing EVERY CABLE and then hooking them back up was the only solution to fix this.

For that, it loses an egg - and at least I didn't have to send it back.

Other Thoughts: Compared to my previous PS2-only KVM by another "gear" company , this is a pretty nice unit.

I haven't actually tried the sound, since I only use one of my computers for sound playback anyway. However, I may plug my USB headset into it to see if that works.

I was hoping I could use both the PS2 connector (for keyboard) and the USB connector (for mouse), but my machines just seem to use the usb keyboard instead and ignore the PS2 one. This means none of the hotkeys on my keyboard work via the USB emulation.

PS2 converter for the mouse causes scroll-wheel issues in Windows (triggers random back-button on browser) - I've always had that problem, and it's not specific to the KVM switch.

I sure hope the ports don't flake on me too often - that could get pretty tiresome.

Ultimately, this works for my needs - DVI support would have been nice, but not required.

Pros: So far does exactly what I need it to do, and does it quite well. Seems like a very good quality, well built unit. Like the two sets of "shorter" and two sets of "longer" monitor/KB/M cables. Like the option of USB or PS2 connection for the KB/M for the master as well as PC connections. Monitor cables are VGA on both ends, but am getting (but haven't tested yet) some VGA-to-DVI connectors so can (hopefully) use with PC's that don't have VGA video connectors but only have DVI.

Cons: As is, would be a superb value at $99.99. For $129.99, would be a superb value if also came with 4+1 VGA-to-DVI adapters to accomodate DVI monitor & PC video hookups, as well as a USB on the back (to connect a master file HDD) and a USB on the front (to connect a flash drive). Also, a black case (instead of the funky blue) would be preferable. Had a little trouble with the master KB/M USB connection (reason for the -1 egg), but just switched to using the PS2 KB/M connection and have had zero problems with that. Haven't taken the time to unplug/replug everything and retry the master USB connections yet - may or may not 'fix" the USB thing, but just haven't take the time to do it, and not too worried about it.

Other Thoughts: Got this for a PC workbench set up. Also got a TrendNet 5 port gigabit ethernet switch with Cat6 cables. The ethernet switch is plugged into a Netgear 500mbps Powerline adapter to connect to the modem-router & the ISP. All together makes a very functional small workbench set up. Have had 4 PC's hooked up connected to the internet all at once while switching relatively often around amongst the 4 PC's and the KVM switch has performed very well.

Pros: Using an ASUS GX800 gaming mouse (USB only). The KVM lets me use all the mouse buttons (including the BACK/FORWARD buttons) on my game machine using the ps2 connection, and on my XP laptop and my linux fileserver in firefox both with the usb connection.

Using an IBM PS2 keyboard from 1998. My game machine is setup in the bios to power up from a PS2 keyboard hotkey, and that works through the KVM.

All my computers are able to run the monitor at 1920x1080 through the kwm, and i can't tell the difference, no ghosting or anything (Asus VH242H).

The sound switching works fine.

I like that the cables are detachable, so I don't have to leave the unused 4th cable dangling from the back.

Every other KVM I tried I had to either give up my faithful old keyboard in favor of a usb keyboard, or I have to use a different mouse.

To summarize, everything I was hoping the KVM would do, it does.

Cons: It would have been nice to have the sound cable integrated into the main cables, but it's not that big of a deal.

A connection for a second monitor would have been nice, but for the money, this is pretty good.

DVI connection also would have been nice, but, again, for the money, the VGA connector seems to be working just fine.

Other Thoughts: I had tried to hook up my usb mouse with a usb-ps2 adapter into my old kvm (just like i had my old logitech mx518 mouse working) but it did not work at all, the asus mouse simply would not use the adapter, even without the kvm in the loop. I tried a USB KVM, and the new asus mouse worked with that, but then i could not use my IBM PS2 keyboard (the KB is rock solid, 12 years old, and im really hard on KBs, I don't want to give it up).

I hope the KVM holds up, cause I doubt I'll be able to get a good ps2 KVM for much longer. (If this is still working in a few months, I might buy another one just to have onhand to keep running my keyboard as long as possible.)

Pros: -The ability to have 4 computers controlled by one monitor, mouse, and keyboard.

-Comes with all the needed cables.

Cons: -I find that older computers don't like being connected through the USB, so I use the USB to PS/2 adapter, and it works.
-Doesn't have support for DVI interface or a built-in LAN switch, but I knew this when I bought it.

Other Thoughts: I paid $40.00 after being on sale, then a $45 rebate. What a steal!
