5 out of 5 eggsSolid little hub

Pros: So far, it is working exactly as advertised! I have all my peripherals plugged into this one hub, so swapping laptops is much quicker. The USB ports feel very sturdy, not too tight or loose.

Cons: Only con is that the power connector feels a bit flimsy compared to the rest of the hubs construction, but it has yet to take away from performance.

Other Thoughts: This update was written at a month of ownership, I'll update it at a year, if I remember to.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat hub!

Pros: I needed a hub to expand the number of ports on my laptop. It's worked great for the few months that I've had it! It's currently got a keyboard, mouse, gamepad, webcam, and Bluetooth adapter plugged into it. Haven't noticed any functional oddities or danger signs, yet. And yes - as other reviewers have said, it does run cool.

Cons: One very small annoyance - I have a Logitech G600 mouse and a Logitech G11 keyboard. Both have LED backlighting. When I turn my system off for the day, the lighting remains on. For me, the hub is within reach, so (after my system is powered down) I simply unplug the adapter from the back of the device, then plug it back in. Resets the lights, and all is dark. I could do without that, but it isn't really a big addition to my shutdown routine.

Other Thoughts: It IS lightweight, so be ready for anything corded you plug into it to have far more heft than the hub. I've managed just fine with pulling the hub forward on my desk enough for the cords to rest on my desk. The hub is basically being supported by the cables that are plugged into it. Not really an issue, and creative people can find workarounds. =)

Overall, this is a very simple, stable option to expand the ports on your computer.

5 out of 5 eggsGood value, no issues.

Pros: Small, lightweight, good capacity, powered w/ included cable.

Cons: maybe too lightweight? Nothing really bad about it.

Other Thoughts: Works great. I have a bunch of junk plugged into it, including a razer deathstalker ultimate keyboard which is pretty demanding, 2 webcams, a wireless keyboard, and usb controllers. No issues, and all devices work as intended. Great buy.

3 out of 5 eggsWouldn't recommend for heavy charges

Pros: Charges* 7 devices simultaneously

Cons: High capacity batteries such as smart phones, tablets etc... take quite a while to charge up. By comparison, my Samsung Note 4 charges from 0 to full in under an hr on it's stock charger, on this hub it takes between 12-24 hours.

Other Thoughts: I bought this in hopes to conveniently charge two cell phones + 4 electronic cigarette batteries nightly (not to hook up to a PC). It does an "OKAY" job for the e-cig batteries but I don't let my phones touch that thing, I'm afraid it will potentially harm the smartphone batteries. If you're looking for a product to serve this same purpose maybe go for something with higher wattage such as the "Anker 60W 6-Port "

Manufacturer Response:

Alec, thank you for your feedback and I am sorry to hear that the U222-007-R isn’t performing to your expectation. The U222-007-R is a hi-speed hub in regards to USB 2.0 data transfer rates. For fast charging of power hungry devices such as tablets and smartphones, I would recommend looking at our U280-004-OTG – our 4 port USB charging station. If you have any questions or would like assistance finding the right USB hub for your needs, please reach out to our Chicago-based Presales Applications team at 773.869.1773 (M-F, 8am-6pm CST) or

4 out of 5 eggsNot too bad

Pros: Does what it's intended to do. Total of 7 USB ports (v2.0). 5 in front / 2 in back.
It's powered.

Cons: It's light, so gets moved around a lot by the cords.
The "foot" for mounting does not allow side mounting.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfectly, no issues thus far.

Pros: - High speeds across all ports, even under load it works great.

- 7 ports are more than enough (by one port actually)

- Looks great alongside my router, completes my setup.

- Every port is snug, power adapter is snug, usb output is snug.

Cons: - Power adapter doesn't go all the way in (although it evidently doesn't need to.) Hopefully this power adapter is MEANT for this hub so it doesn't burn it out. ;)

Other Thoughts: Normally I don't do reviews so early, but eh... writing reviews isn't exactly a hobby for me.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Easy to setup and use. plenty of USB ports. Works great. We have Windows 7 running on two MacBook Pro laptops. The Tripp.Lite hub was recognized right away.

Cons: A little pricy for a USB Hub.

Other Thoughts: Overall great little unit. We have had no problems with it since they were installed.

5 out of 5 eggsBuy it

Pros: The only powered USB hub I could find when I was shopping. Passive USB hubs are worthless junk (IMHO). This works perfectly! Well worth the price.

Cons: I would have preferred that the USB cable be twice as long, but I used it. It's not ridiculously short either.

Very light, but that's more of a surprise than a design flaw.

Other Thoughts: Attach it to something (side of the system unit, side of a file cabinet) with a strip of velcro, and you'll be good to go.
