1 out of 5 eggs2 weeks...

Pros: Easy setup, works well with monitors, did not get the chance to try with TV's.

Cons: After two weeks it would no longer send a signal over more than 3 feet of cat 5. Even at 3 feet the image was beyond fixing with gain adjustment.

Other Thoughts: I used this in a business setup and never got it to work with his TV's. I had it working at my shop with a 25' cat 5 for two weeks then it died.

Manufacturer Response:

Please contact Tripp Lite’s Chicago-based Tech Support Team at 773-869-1234 and we will be happy to help troubleshoot the issue and provide a solution. 4 out of 5 eggsGood Option

Pros: Got this as an evaluation unit for use in a Restaurant environment for running a Kitchen Video system. It worked very well. It is small and rugged. The boxes themselves run cool so no overheating worries.

Cons: It would have been nice if they had a mounting bracket.

Other Thoughts: I'm using a Logic Controls LC8200 running WEPOS in this application. I hooked up this device while the controller was running and it worked fine, however when I rebooted the device it wouldn't detect the monitor and the screen output was blank. I updated the Intel Extreme drivers and that resolved the problem. It has worked great since.

1 out of 5 eggsThings to consider before purchasing this

Pros: The unit does send video over VGA - setup was incredibly simple.

Cons: Ground loop interference is going to happen with this unit if the sender and receiver are on different circuits - which happens in almost every possible use of this equipment. The power is inserted at the sender unit, and the receiver is powered through the cat5 cable, introducing grounding problems at the receiver.

Also, the unit does *not* send EDID data from the monitor back to the computer (using a recent-model Mac Mini & Sony Bravia), meaning you'll only get a basic list of resolutions that may or may not work well with your monitor.

Picture was quite dark - may have something to do with the grounding problems.
