Product Description

Give Your Computer Four Ultra High-Speed USB 3.0 Ports
With its superior design and construction, the U360-004-R is ideal for a wide range of USB devices, including flash drives, external hard drives, external DVD players, MP3 players, digital cameras and other high-end applications that require fast, clear transmission, free of line noise and other interference, over long distances. It supports faster data transfer rates (5Gbps) for new, high-speed devices and is backwards compatible with USB 2.0, which means you can keep using older peripherals.

Optimized Power Efficiency
USB 3.0 SuperSpeed uses a third of the power of USB 2.0 to transfer the same amount of data. Conversely, during charging applications, the U360-004-R delivers twice the power of USB 2.0 for faster device charging. The U360-004-R has lower active and idle power requirements, and does not require device polling.

Backward Compatible with USB 2.0
Harness all of the strength of USB 3.0 technology without sacrificing compatibility. USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with USB 2.0, making it an ideal and versatile solution for any USB application, as well as allowing for growth.

Compact, Portable Design
The U360-004-R is designed to integrate easily with both desktop computer setups and portable notebook computers. On the desktop, an included 6-foot USB extension cable enables the hub to be conveniently positioned. On the go, the U360-004-R is small and light enough to fit in a briefcase or notebook case - giving you the convenience of multiple USB ports no matter where life takes you!

Over-Current Protection
The U360-004-R features per-port over-current protection (500mA max. as per the USB specified) to safeguard your connected peripheral devices against damage or data loss due to overvoltages.

Plug-and-Play Installation
The U360-004-R provides plug-and-play convenience, with no special software or complicated setup procedures required. The U360-004-R also features hot-swappable functionality, allowing you to add or remove a device at any time with no need to power down the computer. The U360-004-R is bus-powered via the computer's USB port, and for most applications no external power is required. The included power adapter is provided to enable connection of power-hungry devices.

Guaranteed Compatibility
The U360-004-R is compatible with Windows 98, Windows 98 SE, Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Mac OS 8.6 or higher. It connects desktop and notebook computers equipped with a USB 3.0 A (female) port to USB peripheral devices equipped with a USB 3.0 A (male) connector. The U360-004-R is compatible with both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 applications.

Peace of Mind
When you choose this genuine Tripp Lite USB Hub, you get superior performance plus peace of mind! We're so confident of the quality of the U360-004-R that we back it with a Lifetime Warranty.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Hub

Pros: Great hub that attached to my desk with Velcro- works great while transferring data, music, etc back & forth from my hard drive.

Cons: For some reason, (which I have not yet determined), it cuts out intermittently and "ejects" or does not read my USB Drive....perplexing

1 out of 5 eggsdoesn't see usb 3.0 on win7 64 bit

Pros: looks cool and is small.

Cons: win 7 64 bit doesn't see as a usb 3.0 only 2.0 I called tripp tech support they said to update the firmware. I downloaded the update and it doesn't work on 64 bit only 32 so cant update. Tripp lite sent me a new one and it had the same issue need update also. I tried it on a different computer but it win 7 64 on it also, same issue.. I tried on win 8 64 same issue when plugging a usb 3 card reader in the same port it works fine see it as usb 3. I guess I will have to wait until they get a update that will work.... i does work as a usb 2.0 hub

Other Thoughts: none

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsGreat unit + good customer service

Pros: High speeds and compact.

Cons: I have two units. One has consistently worked, the other failed after almost one year. Tripplite customer service quickly replaced it. So, even though one unit failed, I am giving it five stars due to the excellent customer support from Tripplite.

Other Thoughts: Would love to see Tripplite make an eight or ten port hub USB 3 hub.

4 out of 5 eggsGood hub so far

Pros: Sturdy construction, heavy USB cable included

Cons: Power cord is short, should be 6'

Other Thoughts: I bought it to add more ports to my Surface Pro when at my desk. It's fast and sturdy but cords are too short, especially power.

3 out of 5 eggsforensics user

Pros: It works, mostly. More in cons, but it is better than others we've tried. We do a lot of heavy data copying and this will perform at high speeds with different devices.

Cons: Expensive; at 2x the competitors, it should be a 100% effective unit. Reliability; like *all* usb3 hubs, and we've tested a lot, there's some connectivity issues. One time it works, the next time it requires fiddling. This is universal to usb3 and makes us think it's implementation specific and will straighten out as chipsets mature. For now, we put up with it, and haven't lost one of these units yet. Just fiddly things.

Other Thoughts: Who the hell is in charge of quality control for usb3 spec devices? Everything we test has issues, many of them fatal. For a standard, this is the first time I have been seriously disappointed with the industry in 25 years. #fail on usb3. We're talking hubs, mainboards, adapters; only the Seagate drives have given us zero headache, and we've had hundreds of those go through the shop with no failures.

1 out of 5 eggsSecond chance, second failure

Pros: Tripp Lite eventually replaced the product that I first got from Newegg (wasn't Windows 7/64 compatible--perhaps old firmware, but wouldn't upgrade either, on multiple computers--see other review). They didn't even require me to send the initial unit back.

Cons: The replacement unit arrived when I was out of town for a month. So I've been using it now for two weeks. It worked like a charm on my Windows 7/64 ultrabook. Until last night. Then it just suddenly died. I've tried unplugging, replugging, tons of stuff. I was only using two of the four ports.

Other Thoughts: I have an old iRocks 4-port ... isn't USB3, but it's been in service for something like 8 years now, used every day. Has gone through multiple operating systems without a whimper, without any upgrading. Runs my keyboard, mouse, and camera.

Manufacturer Response:

It is difficult to diagnose the issue you are experiencing with the U360-004-R without more information. Please contact Tripp Lite’s Chicago-based Tech Support Team at 773-869-1234 and we will be happy to troubleshoot the issue and provide a solution.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Little USB Hub

Pros: Cheap, Fast

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: Great little USB hub. I got sick of having to reach around the back of my computer to plug stuff in when I ran out of ports in the front. I just velcroed it to the side of my case to instantly give me 4 more front USB 3.0 ports.

1 out of 5 eggsDead AND no online tech support

Pros: The reviews looked good.

Cons: First use on my ultrabook. Wouldn't work in the USB 3.0 port at all (as if not plugged in); worked for one afternoon in the USB 2.0 port, from then on is not recognized by Windows. Ports work fine with other hw; device manager reports no problem with ports. Downloaded the product firmware upgrade, but the upgrade scanner can't find the unit in either port. Tried to get support from the Tripplite site, and the model # is not listed under any category on the Post-Sales Technical Support page, so I can't even file a question through their interface.

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure you want to hear my other thoughts.

Manufacturer Response:

Please contact Tripp Lite’s Chicago-based Tech Support Team at 773-869-1234 and they will be able to provide troubleshooting assistance on the U360-004-R. Additionally, this USB hub comes with a 1 year warranty and we will be happy to replace the unit if it is defective and covered under the warranty. Thank you.

1 out of 5 eggsNot SuperSpeed for me

Pros: Externally powered (wall wart included), compact size. LEDs tell you if something is connected to one of the ports

Cons: This seemed to not be supported by my Win 7 64bit system (Laptop.) I called Tripp-Lite to find out why things would drop out that were connected and why my system would run sluggish when it is connected. No solid answer. Was told there are no firmware updates for the product and my system (new, Quad-core) must have too much on the USB bus to support/power the USB keyboard and USB mouse that was connected to this. When I mentioned that I am using the power supply with this, so powering can't be an issue, there was no more help that could be offered. This item is useless to me.
