4 out of 5 eggsA must have.

Pros: Quite a handy 2.5" mounting device. It makes quick swaps extremely easy for me. I have a full steel tower, and moving it to open up and get at the drives is a pain. I use this and an esata dock on my other computer for working with large modeling and PS files.

Cons: Only complaint after one years use, and unfortunately its a big one. The lower slot seems to have lost sata connectivity. HD works in top slot, and on base cables but no longer in the bottom slot. Basic troubleshoot has lead me to believe the problem is in the racks on board connector.

Other Thoughts: Well built and overall a very satisfying product. I've not seen anything else that comes close to it. If you have a lot of drives and work on several computers I would recommend one of these in each one.

1 out of 5 eggsOne flaw

Pros: Very solid enclosure but....

Cons: The SATA connector will not allow a SATA cable with a clip to "clip" in place. Only seats and can be pulled right off. I like my connectors to click and lock in place when possible especially a cable carrying all my data to and from my SSD.

Other Thoughts: Fix the "click" issue and you have one fine little enclosure!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Sauce

Pros: Very well built. Very well though out. The eject trays spit the drives out the perfect amount. And its very cool to look at. Allows you to make use of those empty floppy and ever so elusive 5" bays! They are just so clean and pretty. As for use well its great. Never worry that there is a cable snag and one of your RAID 0 SSDs looses power. And quickly easy run backups/clones to new SSD drives.

Cons: Not completely aluminum. I like aluminum, makes things feel space age. Moreover this is a flat out cool product, which means i would have paid more for it. Also the power hookups for each tray on the device is MOLEX, is should be SATA Power. PEOPLE HATE MOLEX, its bad always has been always will!

Other Thoughts: Its sometimes hard to find suitable positions for 2.5" form factor drives. So why not give them a home? Instead of placed all shadedly against some part of your case. Moreover these should be more like floppy drives. They say they have a 4 drive 5" bay.

4 out of 5 eggsGood, except...

Pros: Only product like it on the market (so far). Used it to add two 2.5" drives in a fixed 3.5" slot on a server.

Cons: the two slots are different heights. If the drives are too thin, the drive is not ejected when the front lever is opened because the plastic ejection arm goes over the drive instead of hitting the back of the drive.

Other Thoughts: A 12.5 mm height drive ejected fine from the top slot, but wouldn't on the bottom slot. I had to attach a shim to the top of the drive so it would eject from the bottom slot.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality. You get what you pay for here.

Pros: The Newegg photos leave the possibility that this item might have flimsy construction. This is not at all the case. The little doors are plastic but they are backed with metal. Hook up is as simple as you would hope, SATA power and SATA data. Fits in the computer's 2.5" slot perfectly and blends right in.

Cons: The blue "activity" light simply remains lit all the time; no big deal. It's a pleasing blue and only illuminates when a drive is installed.

Other Thoughts: Before receiving it, I thought $55 was steep. Now I'm okay with it. The build quality is very fine AND, after all, the manufacturer was thoughtful enough to included both of the needed data cables and, where applicable, both of the SATA-to-Molex adapters. That's $12 to $15 right there.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Idea

Pros: Good Idea supports dual drives, fast to install easy to use. Would recommend if I can resolve the issues listed in the CONS.

Cons: The unit require the use of a special power adapter to get the HD light to work by stapping two connectors. Why not do it internal. They provide a plastic adhesive film to cover the bottom of the drive but you only get one for a dual rack. Also they provide two plastic connectors to cover the external 4 pin connector on the drive. How do you get more of thes plastic proctective connector covers and the plastic adhesive cover for the drives. Can't find these parts on there site. I have a trouble report pending.

Other Thoughts: Don't like being dependant on going back to the vendor for expendibles when I decide to replace my drives.

5 out of 5 eggs2.5 Dual Drive - Excellent

Pros: I have been building workstations since the early 90's, and we sure have come a long way. I was building a firewall using a Qpack MATX case. Purchased this dual drive rack for 2 2.5" 80 gig drives. What a great adapter, it's mostly metal, I had no issues during installation; and I can insert and remove them with no issues at all. A great product!

Cons: Seriously......

Other Thoughts: A great idea for software and hardware RAID machines needing a small form factor. I would recommend this in a heartbeat.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat a Nice Surprise

Pros: I knew it was pricey, but I was already into some bucks in my latest mini-ITX build, so I gave it a go. Really glad I did. This is really an attractive and solid unit, with nice "gentle" blue status lights on each bay. The slide-open pop-out is terrific. I have no regret on getting this to hold my SSD units. Great idea. This will be standard for me in the future.

Cons: The SATA connectors are very close together and only the (provided) straight connectors can fit here. I could not use the premium "L-shaped-end" SATA cables that came with my mobo.

Other Thoughts: Be patient in aligning this with the front panel and it will really add some subtle bling to your case. *NOTE* Not for use in places where someone might walk off with your SSD or HDD. Not to mention walking off with your computer case itself.

5 out of 5 eggsWorked great for Mini-itx case

Pros: I used this to mount a pair of laptop 2.5" drives in my mini-itx case in the 3.5" external mount instead of the case's expected internal HDD mount points. This resulted in greatly improved airflow.

Cons: I don't need the hot swap functionality. I'd rather have a ventilated front faceplate.

As long as no one starts pushing buttons on my computer it should be fine. :-)

Other Thoughts: I think an improvement would be to have a single backplane with a single external sata power connector, split by the backplane, and two sata ports side by side. That would allow 90 degree sata and power cables to be used and require one less cable.

I didn't use the 4 pin molex to sata power + led indicator adapter since I wanted to reduce cable clutter. I used a short molex to 2xsata power adapter instead.

I didn't want the led lights anyway since I don't want to see more blinking lights.

Make sure you get a couple of short internal SATA cables if mounting in an htpc/mini-itx case where the drives will be right over the port anyway. I used a couple of 6" sata cables and that helped avoid twisting cables around.

Also, if you can find a 5.25 bay to 5.25 slim dvd + 3.5" bay faceplate that's another great space saver. Use this to mount two hard drives + a slim dvd burner in one 5.25" bay. That's what I did.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat HDD rack

Pros: fits well in my 3.5 bay. very convenient design. looks very slick from the front

Cons: wish they made the exact same one for 3.5 HDD that'll fit in my 5.25 bay so that i have a matching pair.
