2 out of 5 eggsEVGA P'Supply NEX750B

Pros: Good NewEgg delivery.
Unit started out quiet and seems to do the job. Smaller than I expected a 750W PS to be.

Cons: Power supply began to get a noisey fan within about 3 weeks ofperation --not looking forward to the RMA process. Will post a follow up on that when done. If EVGA does well on the exchange process, this will 5 eggs as I have no other complaints, but a noisey fan is unacceptable and it's gotta go.

Other Thoughts: Testing a new power supply: Just plugging in a modern power supply will not tell you if it is working or not as it has to detect load before it will spin the fan -- had me concerned at first since I thought I had a dead unit. There are two test pins that you can short if you must test the fan, but once it was all hooked up to the motherboard, etc. it ran just fine and is functioning well except for the new noise issue, which is a pain.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat power supply

Pros: Affordable, looks nice, and does what it's meant to do. Plus it's EVGA!

Cons: Nothing for the past month or so.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for an affordable power supply for a nice mid-end rig this'll do a great job! I got this while a rebate was going on, so it was a steal!

Pros: Runs nice and quiet, no issues with installation, not sure what more I can ask for in a power supply, for the price I recommend this to others.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: - easy installation
- cleaner install by attaching only the cables that your system needs
- quiet

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This was a little overkill for the system I put together, but I don't like running the PS at near capacity.

1 out of 5 eggsRANDOMLY POWERS OFF

Pros: None - It didn't work. See CONS

Cons: From the moment I first turned it on, my EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750 B has powered off on it's own. This problem doesn't even allow my Windows 7 Pro installation flash drive to get past 50% completion. I have tried running the bare minimum and the PSU still fails. I have tried my other PSU with the same configuration and it runs perfectly.

Other Thoughts: AVOID

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsUnstable X2, Boat Anchor

Pros: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750 B 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified 750W Active PFC ATX12V v2.31/EPS 12V v2.91 5 Year Warranty 120-PB-0750-KR SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular NEW 4th Gen CPU Certified Intel 4th Gen CPU Ready Power Supply
Packaged well and product exactly as described. The semi modular design offered adequate cables, good length for larger cases and sleeving that works fine.

Cons: Once you build enough custom computers you put them together first on the test bench before you do the install with hiding wires etc. Glad I did as this right out of the box shows significant fluxuation in voltages. This PSU would start the system however the system would pop up error messages stating over voltage, cycle off and reboot into the prompt, Voltage monitoring was shutting it down. Turning off Voltage monitoring in the bios and the board and yes it would run. I recorded and observed a couple test and verified via multi-meter that the voltage fluxuation IMHO is unacceptable and do not want to risk burning up other components. The same system runs fine with 2 other known power supplies on my bench. RMA immediately approved $20 to ship it back and the replacement powersupply of exact same model has the same issues. Another RMA??? No thanks this thing is going to be an boat anchor.

Other Thoughts: For the cost of RMA shipping I could have purchased a much higher level of PSU and I will from now on. Lesson learned, in 15 years and hundreds of builds I have had only one other powersupply fail and that was 2.5 years into a 3 year warranty. After reading other reviews on newegg I would NOT recommend this PSU. Cheaper is not always better.

I will be using this PSU on my bench to power non crucial items and projects like FreeTrackNoIR headset builds and after further monitoring will post results.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

This PSU should definitely NOT fail or have such fluctuations. It is unfortunate but sometimes these things can happen, please contact our technical support if you have any issues and we will assist you with a replacement to resolve your issue. You can contact us 24/7 at 1-888-881-3842 or at Newegg@evga.com.

3 out of 5 eggsLongevity isn't really long

Pros: Solid, gave what I needed when I needed it, efficient, decent supply.

Cons: After a month the +12V Rail Fluctuated while gaming and my PC would shut off and restart on its own. I had to get a new PSU shipped in.

Not sure if I was the only one with this problem, or all the units stop working after a month of usage.

Other Thoughts: They could've made it more reliable

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Josh,

Sorry to hear you had a problem with your unit. They should definitely not fail in such a short time, but like any electrical component could experience problems, however this is rare. If you do have any future issues please contact our technical support 24/7 at 1-888-881-3842 or at Newegg@evga.com and we will assist you.

2 out of 5 eggsLOUD

Pros: Powerful
works great
slick cable styling
semi-modular

Cons: This overpowers all the other fans in my computer to the point I can't tell how much sound the other fans are making when this is turned on. The sound diminishes when on it's side, but still decently loud.

Other Thoughts: Would not buy again due to the noise level

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

The fan should not really be that loud, it's possible there may be a problem with it. Please contact our technical support 24/7 at 1-888-881-3842 or via email at Newegg@evga.com and we can look into the options.
