3 out of 5 eggsFan problem after year 1

This review is from: EVGA 100-B1-0500-KR 80 PLUS Bronze 500W Active PFC ATX12V v2.31/EPS 12V v2.91 Power Supply

Pros: Reasonable price for such a power unit

Cons: the FAN!!
the fan inside of this unit for the cooling purpose doesn't build in quality.
I'm living in the area where in-house temperature never goes above 80F. I used this to build a computer as a secondary backup whenever I have to work in my home. some mechanical 3D modeling software will be the highest work loading. As you might think able, I'm trying to say that Im not using it as crazy. but in anyway, the fan keep making noise recently, the vibrating noise, specifically, the resonance of the inside plastic wind guide. The thin layer of plastic piece inside the power unit for the purpose of wind guiding, is resonating not because the wind flow but the un-centerized spinning fan blades.

5 out of 5 eggsStable Power

This review is from: EVGA 100-B1-0500-KR 80 PLUS Bronze 500W Active PFC ATX12V v2.31/EPS 12V v2.91 Power Supply

Pros: Quality power supply at a reasonable price. Stable and runs cool. It is an Active PFC supply.
Plenty of power for i5 system w/16 gigs of RAM, 1 SSD, 1 HD, and ASUS Z87 Pro MB. (NO Video cards). Used for office work and internet.

Cons: None at this time.

Other Thoughts: I recommend this power supply to others.
I would use this supply in future builds / repairs.
When I bought this supply it had good reviews and EVGA seemed to be a reputable company.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellence Continued - EVGA 100-B1-0500-KR 80 PLUS Bronze 500W

This review is from: EVGA 100-B1-0500-KR 80 PLUS Bronze 500W Active PFC ATX12V v2.31/EPS 12V v2.91 Power Supply

Pros: Nothing too exciting to write, just that it provides quality, efficient power in virtual silence to my Phenom II X4 (3.2ghz) htpc system with a simple GT 720 GPU. The lack of any fan noise at all is actually rather exceptional. Plentiful connectors and EVGA customer service would round out the full "pros" list.

Cons: Absolutely none.

Other Thoughts: Looking for stable, reliable, and silent but don't need the power to light up Vegas at night, then this is definitely my recommendation for an ideal PSU. Yet another excellent product from EVGA bought through NewEgg.

5 out of 5 eggsIs this thing on?

This review is from: EVGA 100-B1-0500-KR 80 PLUS Bronze 500W Active PFC ATX12V v2.31/EPS 12V v2.91 Power Supply

Pros: Used the INCLUDED tester to make sure it powered on. If it weren't for my case fans I plugged in I would have thought this was dead. The fan is absolutely SILENT without load. I turned off everything in my room and still couldn't hear anything. Air movement was great. If I run into issues after I build my computer I'll update. The cables have a nice mesh covering, long enough for my Mid-tower. I have a very simple build so I'll be putting most of the power cables behind the steel plate. But it's good to have upgrade potential!

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: If your CASE doesn't have a bottom vent for bottom mounted PSU then you are advised to install it upside down so you aren't blowing air against a solid sheet of metal/plastic. That's a Con for your case though. This PSU rocks!

4 out of 5 eggsWorked fine.

This review is from: EVGA 100-B1-0500-KR 80 PLUS Bronze 500W Active PFC ATX12V v2.31/EPS 12V v2.91 Power Supply

Pros: Worked fine.
Looks nice.

Cons: Fist PSU I've purchased with no Molex to 3pin Fan attachment. Fortunately I had one lying around.

Other Thoughts: Seems like a good PSU for the price. Decent amount of power.

5 out of 5 eggsEVGA 500B

This review is from: EVGA 100-B1-0500-KR 80 PLUS Bronze 500W Active PFC ATX12V v2.31/EPS 12V v2.91 Power Supply

Pros: Good value power supply and I define value as good performance for the price. I wanted to put a video card in a Lenovo PC my girlfriend bought at a big box store, and had to upgrade from the 300 watt cheapo power supply manufacturers use. Installed this one with no problems, and no problems getting the rebate from EVGA either. It has been working just find for about 9 months now, and I have bought as second one for build I am doing, and will buy a third to upgrade a friend's computer as well. Another reason I decided to go with EVGA is that I only use their video cards, and never had an issue with them either.

Cons: I have not had any issues, so no cons at all, other than they could do a buy one get one free deal, lol.

Other Thoughts: You can't go wrong buying this power supply.

5 out of 5 eggsNice unit

This review is from: EVGA 100-B1-0500-KR 80 PLUS Bronze 500W Active PFC ATX12V v2.31/EPS 12V v2.91 Power Supply

Pros: Lotsa wire, easy to hook everything up, fan only comes on when it gets warm, cables are sheathed in a nylon-type mesh.

Cons: The heavy sheathed cables are long, so it could be a bit awkward in a small case (no deductions for this, just advice).

Other Thoughts: Living in S. Calif, close to the warehouse, I got it in one day ....... no need for me to pay extra shipping (thank you).

5 out of 5 eggsStable Power

This review is from: EVGA 100-B1-0500-KR 80 PLUS Bronze 500W Active PFC ATX12V v2.31/EPS 12V v2.91 Power Supply

Pros: Rock solid construction-
Stable power-

Installed it, turned it on and haven't turned it off yet. Currently running Blu-ray drive, 1TB HD, 2 500GB SSD, MOBO-CPU(of course) Radeon R9 285, with zero problems. Lots of connectors, even MOLEX, what are those used for again? Plus PCIe plugs for video.

No complaints at all. Class act company with an awesome product here.

Cons: ZERO!

This review is from: EVGA 100-B1-0500-KR 80 PLUS Bronze 500W Active PFC ATX12V v2.31/EPS 12V v2.91 Power Supply

Pros: Well Constructed and performs as expected. Easy installation and cable management despite lack of modular cables. Great price.

Cons: None so far. Will update if it suicide bombs itself and my other components.
