1 out of 5 eggscheap wires and way to thin for 40amps

This review is from: EVGA 100-W1-500-KR 500W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Continuous Power Supply 3 Year Warranty Intel 4th Gen CPU Ready

Pros: looks good black cables to the power supply are long enough

Cons: cheaply built cables are to thin and would catch fire if you ever put 40 AMPS to them the 2 6+2 pins are on the same wire cable it comes with is short wall plug I am find it disappointing this is coming from a name brand psu

Other Thoughts: would not recommend this there are better power supplies out there

5 out of 5 eggsWhy buy a giant Power Supply? This one is a workhorse!

This review is from: EVGA 100-W1-500-KR 500W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Continuous Power Supply 3 Year Warranty Intel 4th Gen CPU Ready

Pros: So I built a killer gaming unit with fast SSD's, 6 Fans, A windforce Xtreme 970 Gaming card, Gigabyte Sniper G1 gaming motherboard, 3 TB WD Black HD, Corsair water cooled CPU gizmo, and this power supply is running it all without a struggle!
Fits nice into a MID size ATX case! Nice Cables! Its Quiet still after 2 months of heavy gaming!

Cons: Zero Cons

Other Thoughts: Save yourself some money and buy one of these for your gaming system. It will run 2 Video cards SLI if you need that overpower! Yeah I would put this unit in every computer I build and save money.

4 out of 5 eggsOnly one flaw

This review is from: EVGA 100-W1-500-KR 500W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Continuous Power Supply 3 Year Warranty Intel 4th Gen CPU Ready

Pros: used this for my first build, runs everything fine.

Cons: this was literally the most frustrating part of building my PC, it had way more wires than i needed and they we're really thick. I had to shove most of the cables under the pc next to the PSU itself because the side if my case would not go back on with all the wires in the way.

Other Thoughts: I recommend this product but be warned the cables are unnecessarily large in my opinion.

5 out of 5 eggssolid psu

This review is from: EVGA 100-W1-500-KR 500W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Continuous Power Supply 3 Year Warranty Intel 4th Gen CPU Ready

Pros: Iv been doing custom/diy pc's and upgrades on a hobby level for the last 10 years. I have installed and owned many of power supplys. the last two powersupplys I have purchased was evga and I have been impressed both times. good brand. good warrantys. good products . this one was at a great price for 500 watts . worked out of the box. the length is short for smaller cases. it has a quiet fan. 3 year warranty. nice sleeved cables. nice variety of plugs

Cons: none for the price.
basic packaging no fancy box or extras and goodies like the more expensive ones. just a great psu in a cheap box for a low price

5 out of 5 eggsAffordable and Efficient

This review is from: EVGA 100-W1-500-KR 500W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Continuous Power Supply 3 Year Warranty Intel 4th Gen CPU Ready

Pros: Price
Quality
Efficiency
SLI Ready (has 2 6+2)

Cons: 20+4 pin is tough to install, sort of

Other Thoughts: Powering AMD Athlon x3 440, 6GB DDR2, Radeon HD 6950, 4 HDD, Multiple Fans/ Fan Controller and is steady so far

Recommended for those on a budget in need of a decent and stable PSU

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage (DOA)

This review is from: EVGA 100-W1-500-KR 500W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Continuous Power Supply 3 Year Warranty Intel 4th Gen CPU Ready

Pros: - EVGA must have saved a lot of time by not plugging their power supplies to test them.
- Did not catch fire.

Cons: - DOA
- Ugly cable sleeves, why bother.

Other Thoughts: - It would be nice if any electronics company could invest a bit more time in quality control.
- They should buy some of the kids from the Adidas factories because these shoes deliver.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsDependable, affordable and honestly rated.

This review is from: EVGA 100-W1-500-KR 500W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Continuous Power Supply 3 Year Warranty Intel 4th Gen CPU Ready

Pros: -Rock solid reliability, it has been in service in a demanding environment for 2 years now without a problem
-Plentiful connectors (types and number of each)
-Silent

Cons: -The sleeved cables are an awesome feature, but as mentioned in other reviews can be a little stiff to bend

Other Thoughts: I didn't know much about the EVGA brand PSUs prior to purchasing this but thought I'd give it a shot based on the number of features and lower pricepoint. This one's a keeper, if I do another build it'll definitely have an EVGA PSU. It is powering an FX8320 based rig with a GTX 650 Ti video card and 4 HDDs for 2 years without a hiccup. The computer was built for number crunching running largely parallelized code which includes GPU offloading of calculations so it consumes a good deal of power and this supply keeps up perfectly.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Budget Power Supply so far

This review is from: EVGA 100-W1-500-KR 500W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Continuous Power Supply 3 Year Warranty Intel 4th Gen CPU Ready

Pros: -Looks great
-Sounds great
-Hasn't blown up yet
-Simple

Cons: -I didn't like how the 8 pin CPU connector was split into 2-4 pin connectors and I understand why it was done.
-I can see where this would have been an issue with only 2 main strings of Sata connectors in the Corsair 200R. If I would have had a SSD along with the HD and Optical drive, I would have had to purchase an extender or a molex to sata converter.

Other Thoughts: -Excellent Budget PS
