5 out of 5 eggsSolid PSU

Pros: Plenty of power. (1000W)

It's very quiet. Only time I hear it is when I power the system on I'll hear a click, but that is all. Perfectly normal.

Fully modular. Which is great obviously since it makes cable management much easier.

I installed this PSU in a Rosewill Thor V2 case (Full Tower) and the cables are indeed long enough for a full tower despite what someone may have said (Only 1 was a little short, see cons). I have the cables ran through the back of the tray to hide the ones I actually am using.

Looking at HWMonitor and my BIOS hardware monitoring section, I can see the voltages are extremely consistent, more consistent than my old PSU - A 450W Rosewill Capstone 80+ Gold PSU which is also a fine power supply, just needed a little more power for what I wanted to do. (Or in this case, a lot more than I need!)

Cons: Only con is the CPU Power connector cable is a little short, but still long enough for a full tower, just don't plan on trying to hide it since that won't be possible. It is long enough to maneuver it in a way so it doesn't get in the way of airflow.

Other Thoughts: So far I'm impressed with this PSU unit. It's been rock solid so far and I'm quite happy with it. I probably won't replace this thing for another 5+ years. (Assuming it holds up, hopefully it will!)

2 out of 5 eggsToo little, too short.

Pros: Well made unit, though definite corners were cut on things like the cables, which are coated in cheap (and easily damaged) PVC). Okay for the price.

Cons: The cables were to short to allow any real routing even in a modest mid-tower build and including a couple extensions (even for obvious things like CPU P) seems beyond this model.

Other Thoughts: I am building in a Corsair 500R, so the case isn't that big. This shouldn't be a problem, considering low-end brands like Cougar have figured it out.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat power supply

Pros: quiet, fully modular means less wire clutter, the cpu and motherboard wires are flat.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: bought this power supply its kind of on the long side that's not a problem though very quiet. the main thing is that its fully modular use only the wires you want the rest leave in the box. its very easy now for me to close the back side panel of my case with the flat fully modular wires .

5 out of 5 eggs6 weeks so far so good

Pros: Steady power. No issues.
My first modular. So nice to not have unused cables. Helped my airflow in some areas.
Rebate came back 6.5 weeks after I mailed the forms.

Cons: Flat cables kinda suck. I prefer round shielded but I knew this before I bought it.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This just replaced an older power supply Ive been using for a few years now. Its 100% modular, great design for the most part, and can be installed in any direction your case supports. It has multiple screw mount holes to adapt to your case, so fitting isnt an issue.

This is quite possibly the best part, because if you install this on the bottom, the fan will just suck up dirt from the floor.

The finish is absolutely amazing too. I also like how they simplified the cables without bundling them up. This makes the cables flat, so they lay flat against everything when doing cable management. This worked against me since my case is smaller, but I plan on correcting that in the near future hopefully.

Its also fairly quiet. I hear my case fans more than anything.

Cons: I knocked 3 eggs off because of this serious issue - the plugs for the vga cables on the power supply are flawed. I literally had to force the plugs into each slot to get them to seat. Looking closely at them, I can tell I pushed a pin in, and probably damaged it. It functions, so Im glad I dont have to RMA this thing after having just received this item. Its not that the male connectors didnt fit the female connectors, a pin didnt line up with a specific plug...and it was the same pin that was misaligned on ALL OF THEM. Every single vga male end would not fit every single vga female end due to the same plug on each of them. This should be corrected immediately.

Ive never had an issue with EVGA's quality before this. Although this isnt much of an issue with me, it "could" be an issue later down the road, and it most definitely could be an issue for others as well. This can literally be damaged just by installation. Hopefully they will fix this.

Other Thoughts: Its actually a really good psu so far. Ive only had it for 24 hours though, so time will tell.

3 out of 5 eggswas good while it lasted

Pros: was power full enough to run my set up with not thinking about it ran quiet and is very sturdy build quality.

Cons: had it for about a month in the system and then today i came home and started up my computer went to start a download not anything out of the ordinary and i turn around then i hear 2 clicks then i look at my monitor and nothing so i go for the plug and unplug it and then i tried to restart it and with the side panel off and i start to see smoke coming out of it so i turn it off and unplug it and take it out of my system asap and all you can smell is electrical smoke

1 out of 5 eggsJunk right from the box

Pros: pros - none that I can see, Junk doesn't work

Cons: cons - right out of the box it doesn't work. Now I have to wait for several days to get another one, but guess what. Newegg doesn't allow refunds, they do the what the manufacturer does. Guess what, I'll send EVGA my brand new Junk and they'll return a refurbished one to me. Since I'm in a huge hurry I'm paying for another one until they see the original is JUNK and then they'll return my money.

Other Thoughts: At the same time, I bought the GEForce GTX 780 Ti Overclocked, If I'd known how they don't replace their units with new but send a refurbished, I'd never have bought this Junk. Will I buy another product from them, NO!!!!

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsgreat PSU

Pros: Bought this as an upgrade to my corsair tx750. I run two Nvidia GTX 780's so I needed the extra power. The price was right and you can't complain about a rebate. The build quality was the first thing I noticed out of the box. It's heavy and has a nice textured finish. If you've had as many PSU's over the years as I have you just "know" when a power supply is well built. I also noticed it has a relay on the primary that you can hear click when you hit the power button. That's always a good sign. All in all this is a great PSU for the money. Haven't had one problem yet and I've had it under extreme load for hours on end several times. Voltage is rock solid and never sags. If you're looking for an upgrade or building a new system consider this unit. As the old rule of thumb goes; you can never have too much power. So even if you don't need a kilowatt of power now, you may someday.

Cons: The only con I have is the cables. I am a fanatic about my case wiring. I own an Corsair Air540 case which has a big window to show off my components. These cables are horrible for the quality of the PSU. I would have thought nice cables would have been standard equipment for this unit. However, they do get the job done, just not looking very good doing it. The newer G2 unit does however have the nicer covered cables included. I just wish this one would have had them too.
