4 out of 5 eggsGood fit, easy install.

Pros: Looks good, fits case, full set of cabling, runs quiet.

Cons: Large

Other Thoughts: A power supply isn't really an exciting piece of gear, is it? Really, you're looking for an absence of hassle and proper function. So, I can say that although the power unit itself fit into the case of my Dell 3847 desktop, there wasn't a lot of excess clearance. I had to maneuver it around a bit but it did slip right in when I got the angle right, and the screw holes lined up perfectly with those on the back of the case. The problem came when I tried to connect the cables. This is a modular unit so at least you don't have extra cables snaking around all over, but you do have to plug them in. If you do that first, the unit won't clear the DVD player. If you do it after the unit is in place, you'll need some very flexible fingers. I chose the latter, and because the cables are very thick and covered with sheathing (both good things), it makes it a tricky thing to get them bent just right to plug into the power supply. That said, it was still a matter of minutes, not hours.

Once all was set, I powered up the system and I was concerned that the fan wasn't running - but it's just so quiet you can't hear it. I think EVGA overdid the visual design thing a little, because it's a really good-looking unit with a black crinkle finish - sitting inside the case where nobody will ever see it. And it has a big handle that sticks out the back, which has no real utility although it makes a convenient carry handle for the PC itself. (There was a reference to "external" use, whatever that might mean, so maybe the appearance and handle would matter to some people.)

All in all, this is a nicely designed, attractive, quiet unit that was pretty easy to install.

4 out of 5 eggsCould be quieter

Pros: Working fine. Modular and 80 plus Gold certified.

Cons: Fan could be quieter.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace a PC&P Silencer 750 running a i5-2500k/16GB RAM/Radeon 4870. I didn't need all that power but wanted to clean up the mess of cables and be a little more energy efficient. It meets those goals but I'm a bit disappointed because I think the Silencer is quieter. I think EVGA makes quality products, but online reviews show this unit to be relatively undistinguished in performance.
