Awards

EVGA SuperNOVA 1000PS

Hi Tech Legion 2015.03.01
"EVGA cut no corners using the closest tolerance and best quality components available in the 1000 PS, and it is reflected in the performance. Regulation on all rails was excellent, with power delivery having almost no fluctuation under loads and never dropping below rated voltage on any rail. While ECO mode worked as intended, we found little need for it as the 1000 PS does live up to its "silent" title, and was never audible over case fans in load conditions, and with ECO disabled was still not audible under any condition."

5 out of 5 eggsGreat performance and QUIET!

Pros: Modular
7 year warranty!
It really is silent
Easy to install

Cons: Nothing noted

Other Thoughts: This power supply is more than enough ooomph for my Nvidia 980t, ROG Ranger, 6th gen Core i7 system. The best thing is how quiet it is. With the modulation schematic right on the product and cables, this thing was so easy to set up, my 12 year old figured it out.

1 out of 5 eggsStopped working after 8 months

Pros: -Performed as advertised and performed very well for the time it works
-Pretty quiet
-Throttles power appropriately

Cons: -Died after 8 months without warning

Other Thoughts: -Better longevity
-Disappointed considering its average rating and price
-Will be contacting EVGA to have them replace this

5 out of 5 eggsperfect!

Pros: Sleeved cables!
Excellent price!
EVGA!
Silent and provides plenty of power!

Cons: none!

Other Thoughts: I almost bought the G2 model, but it had bright red cables.... just leave them black evga. I owned a corair psu before and their cables are awful and cheap. Never going back. I am now a firm believer in evga power supplies and for the price, you can't beat it.

5 out of 5 eggsNeed a lot of power? Buy this.

Pros: 1000 watts total output
80+ platinum efficiency rating
Fully modular
Relatively small (only 170mm long, which is small enough to not block the floor case fan slot on most mid towers)
Eco fan mode allows the fan to turn off during low power draw situations, extending unit lifespan
EVGA superior build quality

Cons: It doesn't make me a pizza whenever I turn my computer on. Come on, EVGA, start innovating!

Other Thoughts: Joking aside, this power supply if practically flawless and is likely the best 1000W unit on the market.

5 out of 5 eggsGood power supply

Pros: Super easy setup, every cable is clearly labeled. Very quiet fan.

Cons: Carry case that is included showed up looking like some employee drug it through the mud, not worth taking an egg away but still...

Other Thoughts: I love that there are no unneeded cables in your system since you only plug in what you need into the back of the PSU. The carry case really isn't needed but it became very useful for storing all the cables that I am not currently using just in case I need any of them in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsGet what you pay for

Pros: It's pretty. That's for sure. It is a solid power supply and runs my 2 Radeon 290X in Crossfire just fine. It's quiet. I would highly recommend this PSU to any gamer/enthusiast.

Cons: It's expensive. Also (not really a bad thing), what's with the carry case? Who is walking around with a PSU in their backpack. Anyway, it's expensive.

4 out of 5 eggsNice power supply, but mine could have a problem

Pros: -There's more than enough power for my setup
-Very quiet fan and does not spin in econ mode when under low load
-Supposedly very power efficient

Cons: Had a few random reboots, usually during the BIOS or within half a minute after booting into Windows. This never occurred with my older power supply.
I've noticed that the cable connected to the motherboard seems to be finicky. The cable is clicked in, but the slightest touch at the connector end can power off the my system. Thing is my case is closed most of the time, so nothing is bumping into the cable yet the reboots happen.

Other Thoughts: The main reason I wrote this review is because I recently had reboots occur twice in a row. Once during the Windows 10 logo on boot and the second time at when I clicked on an desktop icon. At this point, I'm not certain if the power supply or cables are faulty.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU for top-of-the-line builds

Pros: -Not nearly as long/wide as the previous reviews make this PSU to be.

-Cables are long enough to navigate through a full ATX case.

-Modularized connectors are convenient and make cable management within the case very easy.

Cons: -PSU was shipped DOA which is the only reason I subtracted an egg.

5 out of 5 eggsSeasonic + EVGA = Win

Pros: This PS model is built by Seasonic (the P2 is built by Superflower) so that should tell you everything you need to know. Cables are long enough for most ATX cases. ECO mode is well designed unlike Corsair's version. Playing 30 mins of SW Battelfront (beta) with Crossfire 290s and the fan still did not come on (tested, it works). You can flip the ECO mode on/off at anytime. Very silent even when the fan is on. Sleeved cables look good.

Cons: It doesn't make sandwiches.

Other Thoughts: Seasonic built plus EVGA warranty and support? What's not to love. Get it on sale/rebate. At full price it's still a fair deal.
