The ConnectPRO UD-12+KIT two-port DVI USB KVM is a great solution for any desktop, SOHO, or industrial environment. It can 100% maintain the compatibility of the shared devices and connected systems, while the innovative DDM technology efficiently maps your devices dynamically to each port. Thanks to the All-Time Full DDC technology, this unit is able to support for Windows 7. This unit can be operated by KVM keyboard hot keys, front-panel buttons or IR remote control*. Installation couldn’t be easier. This rack-mount KVM switch is plug-and-play, no drivers needed for keyboard and mouse operation.

*Note: Optional RC-01 IR remote controller is sold separately.

detailed view and application

  • newegg Breakthrough DDM (Dynamic Device Mapping) technology With ConnectPRO’s exclusive DDM (Dynamic Device Mapping) Technology, communication between shared devices and connected systems is maintained 100% of the time, even when switching the shared devices from the controlled systems. This prevents interruptions in communication between shared devices and connected systems/computers, and reduces the wait time when switching KVM ports. As a result, when switching ports there is no more lag time while the computer has to re-recognize the connected devices. The DDM Technology creates a new class of KVM switch with “NO Latency Switching”, which becomes extremely important for more complicated and faster computing applications’ requirements.
  • newegg Advanced Dual-Core technology Thanks to the advanced Dual-Core technology, this KVM becomes the most reliable and stable solution on the market, when it comes to switching 100% USB HID devices and DVI-I video between multiple computers.
  • newegg High resolution support This unit supports high resolution of up to 1920 x 1200.
  • newegg KVM keyboard hot keys and front-panel buttons The system switching can be implemented through front-panel push buttons (Ctrl, Shift, Scroll Lock, Caps Lock, Hotkey disable). The backlit push-buttons with multi-color LED offer easy monitoring and selection. You can also enable the "buzzer" sound for computer-switching confirmation.
  • newegg Great compatibility The UD-14-PLUS is compatible with Linux and Mac, Windows 98, 2000, XP, Vista, and Touchscreen. It also features all-the-time active DDC/EDID communication, making it Windows 7 compatible.
  • newegg USB Sharing Two USB ports are provided on the front panel for device sharing.

3 out of 5 eggsMuch better than the cheaper alternatives

Pros: Works as expected. Switching is instant. Works with fancy gaming mouse and keyboard. Unit is smaller than I thought i would be, which is nice. The cords that connect to each computer just have one DVI and one USB, so all of the peripherals connected to the device are condensed into one USB port on the computer, which is nice.

Cons: I removed two eggs because I think it might be having some keyboard lag and missing some key presses every once in a while. I'm not 100%% sure if it's the KVM switch, my keyboard, or me - but I've only noticed it happening after getting in this switch. I'll try to figure it out, and come back and edit this review depending on what I find.

3 out of 5 eggsWould not work with 1920x1200

Pros: Seems well built

Cons: could not get it to run at 1920x1200 resolution. connectpro said that there was a way, but i had already returned it.
No remote button to switch machines -
No remote light to indicate which machine is connected.
Large

Other Thoughts: conflicting specs and documentation.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Switch I've ever seen

Pros: This seems to work great switching from Mac (Mac Mini) and Windows boxes. Normally, you'll sometimes get a snowy screen when switching to a Mac but with this switch you won't. There is also no noticeable delay when switching because of the technology they use for switching. No extra cables are needed. (Which is hard to determine by reading the specs) The cables are pretty stiff but are made really well. In fact, on the cable bag it's states a lifetime warranty for them. Note: I have not used the hotkey switching because I have no need for it so I can't comment on how it works.

Cons: Price is a bit high, but it was well worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with specialty Keyboards!

Pros: System works flawlessly because it passes the real information about the devices directly to the computer. This is a huge step, since my last KVM just emulated it, which made the Sidewinder not work.

Cons: I wish I could set hotkeys to just switch ports with Scroll Lock x2, instead of having to select the port#. On a 2 port switch, there's really no reason, but I suppose this can be connected to larger switches down the road, so its possible to have more than 2.

Other Thoughts: Its super sturdy. I'm replacing a 4 port IOGear, but I never used the 3rd and 4th port. The other one was nice, this one is much better, feels sturdy as a tank. Was well worth this. My computer doesn't have Serial to connect for programming console, however that isn't needed for me, as most of the commands are issued using the hotkeys. I still really wish that it supported dual USB keyboards (Although I don't know that it doesn't to be honest..), since it has USB ports in the front, it might support keyboards that utilize 2 USB ports (Gaming keyboards, etc.) I'd be interested to try it out sometime when I have more money. Overall, its a fantastic unit, and I'm very happy with my purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality unit, but pricey

Pros: -sturdy construction
-supports my logitech wifi keyboard/mouse from any of the usb slots (hot-key support doesn't seem to work when the wifi key is plugged into one of the front ports though)
-no issues with either machine losing the keyboard or monitor (going blank or resetting to default resolution) as reported with other KVM switches
-toggle to swap the hot-key between shift/scroll lock/caps lock is a nice touch
-power adapter included if you want the unit to be powered separately from the computers it is connected to

Cons: - note a huge deal but something to be aware of: included cables are single link DVI-I, and only one DVI-D adapter is included so make sure at least one machine can accept DVI-I
- newegg was out of stock (!) on these and I was forced to purchase elsewhere since I needed a new KVM immediately, glad to see it is back

Other Thoughts: This is a huge step over my previous LinksKey VGA + PS2 KVM. I chose it specifically for the DDM claim because I was tired of my monitor getting dropped to 800x600 every time I switched monitors.

I haven't received my new IPS panel yet, so I can't really speak to image quality at higher resolutions yet.
