The SecureLinx SpiderDuo KVM Switch is the newest in the popular Spider family of remote KVM solutions. SecureLinx SpiderDuo KVM Switch provides secure, remote KVM (keyboard, video and mouse) over-IP capabilities as well as transparent local access. Ideal for those who need local access, as well as the flexibility of KVM-over-IP in a single integrated solution. Its palm-sized, "zero-U" design is perfect for space-constrained applications. What's more, SecureLinx SpiderDuo KVM Switch requires no additional software and allows full BIOS level control of the host system.

5 out of 5 eggsLove these

Pros: - Been great and reliable, easy to setup, has just worked for me.
- Inexpensive way to add KVM over IP to an existing non-networked KVM.

Cons: I really can't think of any at the moment.

Other Thoughts: First, I'm not sure why the other two reviews have had issues warranting a 1 egg review. I have two of these connected to Avocent KVMs in two different server racks. It connects to the console ports of the KVM and allows me to then move between the servers connected to it. I had zero issues getting it setup and it really did all just work. I came here to order 2 more and saw the low reviews and wanted to be sure I provided my feedback.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst IP KVM

Pros: None unles you like being disconnected from your session.

Cons: Do not buy this KVM. The first one would lock up with a connection error code. I contacted Lantronix and after about two weeks they allowed me to send the unit back. A few weeks later, yes I said weeks later I received a new unit. This one does not lock up with an error code… it simply disconnects me from the session all the time. When I am working on a system I usual have to reconnect 20 to 30 times to accomplish a task.

Other Thoughts: Save your money and buy an IP KVM that works.

1 out of 5 eggsRemote keyboard works, local PS/2 does not

Pros: Remote KVM access without having to power down and/or install cards.

Cons: The SpiderDuo is advertised as giving you the ability to do remote KVM as well as onsite KVM access. That's not my experience. It fails to give local keyboard access.

I plugged the SpiderDuo into a local PS/2 8-port KVM switch and the onsite keyboard didn't work (local video did works). As a workaround, I tried bypassing the KVM switch and plugging a PS/2 keyboard directly into the spiderDuo and still the local keyboard keystrokes were not transmitted to the machine.

Other Thoughts: I can still access the machine but only remotely via IP now. Disapointing to pay extra for the Duo but only get regular remote access that the Spider (not duo) offers.
