2 out of 5 eggsRob

Pros: many coasters

Cons: I have bought many spindals of Memorex recordable dvd's but this has been the worst batch, I expect to get a few bad dvd's but I am half way through the 50 pack and 3/4's of them are bad what ever they did to there processing they need to change back, and I have tried them in 4 different dvd burners

Other Thoughts: wait a few months before buying them maybe those will be better

2 out of 5 eggsFailure After Failure

Pros: Some batches have worked in the past.

Cons: A 50-pack of this dual-layer media is producing one failed burn after another. It's not the drive, I can consistently write to other media without any problems, and I've successfully written to this particular media in the past. I don't know if their quality control has gone out the window or what.

1 out of 5 eggsHigh Failure rate

Pros: None so far

Cons: Bought 3 spindles. First spindle I am seeing 12 failed out of 25 so far. Not a drive issue, used 2 diff PCs with different burner drives and burning software. Not having problems with other brands or capacity blanks.

Other Thoughts: I'm just hoping the other 2 spindles will perform a lot better

5 out of 5 eggsThe standard in DL DVD's.

Pros: Only 2 "coasters" out of half the discs so far. One of them was my fault, I improperly selected too fast of a burn speed. Between TDK and Memorex I usually burn good quality DVD's that last a long time and work in a wide range of optical drives.

Cons: none so far.

Other Thoughts: Only a few times have I ever had drives that would not play a burned disc that was a memorex.

2 out of 5 eggsDegrade over time

Pros: Decent price versus performance but recent price increase is making this a non-factor

Cons: Media start to degrade over time regardless of use. I've created hundreds of discs over several years for archiving purposes. Have primary backups on hard drives but keep recordable media as secondary backup. Unfortunately, a recent hard drive failure required me to use my secondaries. This revealed that these discs have issues. Some data restored without issue from some discs from the same batch. Other discs had nothing but issues and the data was lost. All discs were in pristine condition since I store them properly and only access them when needed.

Other Thoughts: Looking for a new brand. Will probably look into more hard-drive based options going forward, but it's always good to have secondary backups on thin and lite media that can be organized as needed and accessed quickly.

Pros: Been using the Memorex brand for a few years after many years of trial and error with other brands. I think these are the best value and most dependable.

2 out of 5 eggsVery poor disks

Pros: There aren't many. They're disks, they do one thing, and they do it poorly.

Cons: 4/5 fail with errors. Doubt it's my drive because I have no problems with other manufacturers. These disks destined to be coasters.

Other Thoughts: I'll spend a little extra on better disks next time.
