1 out of 5 eggsBad discs for archiving

Pros: They burn OK.

Cons: I got those Memorex discs (ID: RITEK-BR2-000) about 4 years ago. I used all of them to record hd video for archiving. The burning process went OK, no coasters, and each disc was verified after burning. I watched then at least once after that and they played fine. This year I discovered that all of them have degraded to a point that they were either unplayable or play a bit and then stop, or skip parts of the video, because they can not be read. I have tried them in 3 different Blu-ray drives in PCs, PS3 and another LG standalone player. Avoid them no matter how cheap they are because you are going to loose your data.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent media

Pros: burned the cake with no coasters.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Used LG Electronics WH14NS40 + Nero. Not a single coaster!!
Time will tell how well the discs retain the info.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Deal

Pros: Got these disks on sale with rebate at very decent price. Burned several of them with no problems at all. The disks burn and play well. They are quiet, unlike some other brands that will make "ruckus" in your burner or player. No delays when playing the disks. They have the look of higher end blanks. Delivered quickly and were well packed.

Cons: Nothing against disks.

Other Thoughts: Wish I bought more of these blanks

5 out of 5 eggsworks fine for me

Pros: Good price after rebate. Went thru 3 spindles back in early 2010 (using an LG WH20LS08) and haven't had any issue with data corruption like some people reported. I have only burned one disc out of the new spindle I bought this week, which burned successfully at 12x using Imageburn on an AUS BW-12B1ST crossflashed to iHbs112, and played on a standalone BR player.

Cons: The discs I received back in 2010 had a strong chemical smell right out of the spindle but disappeared with time. The new discs don't have the odor.

3 out of 5 eggsNo Judgement yet, just info

Pros: Very inexpensive, especially after rebate. They burn fine.

Cons: These disks are made by Ritek, who has a lousy quality record.

Other Thoughts: First, the Memorex disk ID :
Unique Disc Identifier : [BD-R-SL:RITEK-BR2-000]
Disc Type : [BD-R SL : Class 0 - Version 1]
Manufacturer Name : [Ritek Corp.]
Manufacturer ID : [RITEK]
Media Type ID : [BR2]
Product Revision : [000]
Stamper Date : [Not Present On Disc]
Layer Info : [1 Layer (L0) : 25.03 GB (23.31 GiB) Per Layer]
Blank Disc Capacity : [12,219,392 Sectors = 25.03 GB (23.31 GiB)]
Recording Speeds : [1x , 2x , 4x]
[ DVD Identifier V5.2.0 ]

Now, the issue:
" Ritek/ Ridata went through a major quality problem for all the Blu ray disks it sold up until the second quarter of 2010. The media degraded so fast that BD-R disks manufactured by Ritek often became unreadable in a few months, causing data loss. Both Ritek/ Ridata and Memorex (outsourced to Ritek at the time) showed a massive percentage of user reviews testifying about data loss. The problem was so acute that Ritek had to stop most of its production and switch to Philips licensed media." Paraphrased from media review.

I would think that the problem disks would be long out of the system. The question is, what kind of company would allow it to happen in the first place?

If I have trouble with these, I'll be sure to pass it along.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great so far!

Pros: No bad burns.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: This is my second pack of these. So far I'm happy with no bad burns. Giving it 4 stars because I don't know the reliability after a few years.

1 out of 5 eggsCaution if you value your data

Pros: The Discs wrote fine and read for at least a month.

Cons: After a some time passes all of the Discs become unreadable by any drive. Do a search there are a lot of complaints about this. These discs are worthless.
It worse that these things work for awhile as it gives you a false since of security.

Other Thoughts: I bought these a few years ago, it is possible that Memorex has fixed this issue, but they don't acknowledge it on their support page with a warning and a recall. There is way too many reports of this to be a fluke. I wouldn't trust them.
However with that said, never trust any optical media as your only backup for important files. Use the cloud or a backup hard drive as well.

3 out of 5 eggsThey work

Pros: Didn't have any bad burns but the speed didn't seem consistent from disc to disc.

Cons: as stated the speed seemed off from disc to disc.
