3 out of 5 eggsGood while it lasted

Pros: Supported everything I threw at it after years of upgrading.

Cons: Unfortunately, after 3.5 years (after the 3 year warranty), the fan started shaking loose and scraping along the metal.

This PSU apparently has reported problems with being mounted upside down, resulting in the issue I have.

Other Thoughts: Pleased with the product.
Just wish I payed attention to the warranty so I could have been expecting the inevitable.

5 out of 5 eggsExtremely well built

Pros: -Reliable
-Lots of juice
-High quality, protected cables

Cons: -Not fully modular

Other Thoughts: Been using this model for almost 4 years and had absolutely no problems. It was way overkill for what I needed in terms of power but was on sale and competitive in price with lower-wattage, silver/gold certified systems. The neat thing is that at 1/2 rated load it's 88% efficient so it's competitive at that level with say, a 750W silver-rated PSU.
Some people have noted problems with rattling when it's used with the intake facing down. At one point I pulled the unit apart to clean out the dust and noticed a thin plastic shim mounted behind the fan, ostensibly to help direct airflow. As it's not very securely mounted I'm thinking that the source of the noise could be the shim flapping up and down at certain fan speeds when the fan is inverted. Note that opening the case voids the warranty and exposes you to high voltage elements so I'm certainly not advising any modifications to the unit.

5 out of 5 eggsCougar PSU

Pros: Has worked for 4 years now with no problems. I love the red finish on the PSU, very sleek and seems like high quality metal. Looks very nice in my red Phantom NZXT case. :)

Cons: My computer has started turning off when playing a game for about 30 minutes, not sure if it's the PSU or not. Upgrading system this week to replace everything but the PSU, so we will see.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked for a Week, otherwise great PSU, just got a bad one

Pros: Semi-Modular
Plenty of cables (especially PCI-e and SATA cables)
High wattage for decent price.
Good safety features: Automatically adjusts for power fluctuations from wall outlet. Auto-shutoff for power spikes or other anomalies that could damage components.

Cons: I seem to have gotten a bad unit, thankfully it didn't ruin anything in my PC. Annoying to have to wait an extra 1-2 weeks though on top of the week I waited to get this (old PSU died). Never fun to not have a desktop for 3+ weeks.

Only 1 Molex cable (with 4, 4 pin Molex connectors), not really a con, just a warning; of course most people don't need that many Molex connectors.

Other Thoughts: The cables are fantastic, it's only semi-modular but that's fine since the integrated cables are all ones you'll use anyway (motherboard cable, CPU cable, 2 x 6(+2) pin PCI-e.

There's 4 12V rail module connectors for SATA and Molex connectors. Each cable has either 3 or 4 individual connectors which is fine. Easily enough to power all the components in any PC. Also comes with 4 modular connectors for PCI-e connectors. I believe you could easily connect 3 beastly GPU's, each requiring 2 8 pin PCI-e connectors for power, so that's great.

While the safety features are great I feel this is what caused my issue. My PC worked fine for about a week. Then it would randomly shut down about 4-9 minutes after booting up. No warning, no nothing, the entire PC just shut off. Did this about 6 times before I finally gave up. The odd thing is after each time it would briefly start-up again and enter the BIOS splash screen, then immediately shut down. The really frustrating part is that it would then REFUSE to power back on without a LOT of fiddling with unplugging it and switching the PSU on and off. Even tried it in a different PC (and outlets) and the same thing occurred, yet the swapped PSU powered the victim PC just fine, so clearly isolated it to this power supply.

If this issue happens to you RETURN IT. Don't waste your time checking the wiring or trying to get it to work just to have it constantly fail, just RMA it. I spent hours thinking I wired it or my motherboard incorrectly, or didn't divy up the rails correctly, nope. I tried every correct solution and nothing worked, on either of the two PC's I used.
