5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: lots of power , neat cables, looks great. this is my first modular power supply. it really is nice to be able to remove unneeded cable. It doesn't squeal!!! (old card screamed like a banshee)

Cons: the 8 pin cpu cable is to short to go behind my motherboard, forcing me to run it though the middle of my case.

Other Thoughts: on the 8 pin cpu power cable there is an extra 2 4 pin's. *clutter*

5 out of 5 eggsOverflowing with quality

Pros: Wow, the box package alone say's alot for it's quality. Upon unwrapping the unit revealed a gorgeous power supply worth showing off. Out of the box the unit performed flawlessly and from the looks of it can be installed either on top of bottom of the case by flipping it over. In my opinion a very pleasant and confident purchase worth every penny.

Cons: None so far

5 out of 5 eggsNice PSU

Pros: Modular
Nice 80plus rating
Awesome looking cable sleeves and colors on the unit
Whether you top or bottom mount this PSU the text and logo will always appear the right way (look at photos to see what I mean).

Cons: I don't consider these issues enough to take off eggs:

Not fully modular, but if you are using a graphics card that requires 2x6pin connectors then you will use all of the non-modular cables anyway.

I wish the sleeves on the cables were a bit closer to the connectors.

Other Thoughts: This PSU seems a bit expensive, but I don't like to cheap out on PSUs. All the components in my builds come and go as I upgrade. Even the case gets replaced long before I replace my PSU units. Therefore, a high quality PSU that will last a long time is worth the money in my opinion.

Depending on what you have in your case the colors on this unit might not go well with your setup. I used this with a cougar evolution case with cougar fans and a Sabertooth motherboard so it looks great.

2 out of 5 eggsSLI/crossfire users beware

Pros: Looks great, large quiet fan, high-quality cables

Cons: two essential cables for SLI/crossfire users are intentionally NOT supplied

Other Thoughts: This PS has two 22A 12V rails and two 24A 12V rails. There is already two integrated PCI-E 8(6+2) pin connectors connected to one of the 22A 12V rails. Two modular cables plug into one of the 24A 12V rails. This IS enough to power two graphics cards. However, since I will be installing two cards in SLI configuration, I thought it made sense to put these both on the 24A rails (hey, it's an extra 10% power for us overclockers). Unfortunately, you will need two cables that are not supplied with this power supply and they are not available ANYWHERE online. Why would you make a product with two 24A 12V rails that the customer can't use?? Another argument would be "Why wouldn't you make the integrated PCI-E cables connect to one of the 24A 12V rails instead of the 22A??" This doesn't make sense to me.
I called the manufacturer after looking endlessly online for a modular cable with an 8-pin female connector on one end and a female 8(6+2) pin PCI-E connector on the other end. They seemed confused at first and then offered to part two cables to me... for a price. I have not heard back from them yet, but if the price per cable is any more than roughly 5-8 bucks each, I might as well send this back and upgrade to a better power supply.
Will this work for SLI/crossover users? Yes. Will you get the most out of the power supply? No.
My opinion: this manufacturer needs to provide all cables the user might use so their customer's can use the full potential of the 850 SX, an otherwise fine product.
I will update this review with details of the manufacturer's response.

5 out of 5 eggsClean/Powerful PSU

Pros: Looks awesome, good color scheme. 4 solid dedicated 12V Modular rails. Comes with lots of cables for whatever your needs may be; you can keep ones you don't need out of case. Comes with velcro straps to manage cables in case.

Cons: Somewhat heavy.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you don't use the wrong 6-pin or 6+2 pin to power your GPU.

2 out of 5 eggsWeak

Pros: It works fine if you do not demand anything from it.

Cons: Not meant for customs builds.
Have a
ASUS P8Z68-V Pro/Gen3 Motherboard
Intel Core i7-2600K
2 X Galaxy GeForce GT 450 Video Cards
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 8GB) 1600 RAM
Cooler Master Hyper N 520 Cooler
and this 850 watt power unit could NOT power it up. So, I unplugged one video card and it still could NOT power it up. Then, I unplugged both video cards and it could finally power it up. Pathetic. Cross fire ready? SLI Ready? I doubt it!!

Other Thoughts: Have contacted manufacturer and am awaiting response on why this power unit cannot handle such a set up.

5 out of 5 eggsHigh Quality PSU

Pros: Quality power, quality construction with high grade components. Looks great and runs very cool & quiet.

Cons: NONE.

Other Thoughts: Picked up this psu several months back on a Shell Shocker deal. I never heard of Cougar before and was not sure about the quality and reliability of this company, but took a chance after reading some reviews and I so glad I did. The price was so inexpensive I just couldn't pass up the deal. 84.00 shipped for a power supply worth more that twice that. This thing runs great, powering a C2Q Q9550, Zalman 9700, Sapphire 6970, 2 WD 640 HDD, Gigabyte X-48 MB, 8GB GSkill DDR2 1066, Lancool PC-K63 case with 5 fans. 2 optical drives and a Sound-blaster X-Fi. They also make a great Mid-Tower case called the Evolution that has got very good reviews. I'm impressed with Cougar and will be on the lookout for more for their products in the future.
