5 out of 5 eggsImpressed

Pros: Quiet, trouble-free. Windows 8.1 build with 1 GB video card. Business and audio machine, no gaming. No issues with PC sleep or hibernate. Really quiet, I think I will order another for my Windows 7 machine.

Cons: None found. This is the most I have ever paid for a PS...

Other Thoughts: My optical drive(s) seem to have issues at times, not sure what's up with that. Sometimes not recognized, sometimes they do not even open the tray. Will be swapping cables to isolate.

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet

Pros: This thing is VERY quiet. Highly satisfied. I inhereited a decent computer from my mother and turned it into a WHS machine but man.... that PSU was just ridiculous. It sits next to my main computer in my upstairs office and tormented my ears so on the search I went but I'm cheeeeap so thought I'd give the RSB400 a try. Running four hard drives, DVD drive, 3 year old AMD proc/mobo and no issues at all so far. 12V power connectors are long... not the longest but long enough for a tall, full tower case.

I just paused my music.... wait for it.... Huh? What was that? SILENCE!! That's what that was and it's awesome.

Cons: So on to the cons.... 12V power connectors aren't up to par with my Antec 550W modular PSU. Not as thick wire, not as nice jackets, etc. Besides the 20+4, two 4-pin CPU and 6-pin GPU connector it lacks. It has two 12V cables with two SATA, one four pin and one more smaller connector. That's all you get... plus the 12V cables are loooong. That's a pro too, just depends on your preference/needs. Smaller case... best have some cable control accessories to keep everything in tact.

Cons are purely preference. Don't spend $50 on a PSU and expect a $200 equivalent.

Other Thoughts: I built my first computer @ age 15, and I'm now 31. Definitely not in the custom build game as much as I once was, but still a labor of love. I tinker all the time, and still am the "family/friend I.T. guy" so I see lots of comps run through my office. Any 21 year old can have me beat any day of the week on how many FPS whatever popular game is out right now. So, I know my stuff, but on a normal tech level. That being said I have to say... this purchase was fabulous. Man I should have ordered this four months ago when I built this WHS. If you're looking for quiet and cheap, I highly highly highly recommend this PSU.

I haven't put my multimeter to it to see if the voltage is drawing a consistent amperage but I'm sure it's fine. Hope my review helps others make a decision!

3 out of 5 eggsGerman Engineering Made In China

Pros: Looks cool, 120mm fan, many connectors.

Cons: Was reporting low voltage across all rails from first post.
Within five mins it was buzzing, after shutdown would not restart. Tested setup with known good PSU and system boots just fine. I just got a dud...

Other Thoughts: I really like the look of this power supply. It has all the features I need, but I've never experienced issues like this with other brands. I've requested a refund and will be going back to Antec. I really wanted to like this PSU, but unfortunately the example I received was defective. I imagine it has potential, just buy at your own risk.

5 out of 5 eggsSilent

Pros: - 400 Watts
- Silent (I can't hear it at all over the CPU and case fans, which aren't that loud.)
- Silent
- Silent
- Price

Cons: - Not 600 watts
- Not modular (what do you expect for $50?)

Other Thoughts: With silent power supplies at this price point, I think I will never buy a $25 jet engine again. Great build quality, nice spacing of power connectors on ribbon. I don't have a video card or CPU that needs even the 400 watts, but when I go for the higher capacity, I will definitely give Cougar another look now.

5 out of 5 eggsYep, sure is quiet

Pros: Just installed it.. Works great with my Mini ITX board. Sure, a 400w power supply is probably overkill, but totally worth it for the low noise level. It sure beats the cheap noisy Diablotek 300w power supply it replaced. Plenty of power connectors leftover for future upgrades and modifications. This power supply has so many different types of connectors, it's probably compatible with just about anything. German engineered, but made in China. What isn't made in China these days?

Cons: It's not modular, so you can't remove unneeded cables and connectors.

Other Thoughts: Definitely quiet! The other reviewers were right!. Good airflow and runs cool. I've been running it almost a half hour and the air coming out the back doesn't even feel warm yet.
