Pros: works well on esata, sleep feature works well on Mac Pro.

Cons: The fan is noisy, The way its installed it rattles against the case. Tried a fix by isolating the fan with "O" rings. Still makes a clicking sound. Loud even on low speed.
Non standard fan. Can not replaced with any other fan. Medionsonic, in there infinite wisdom uses a 2 pin connecter. The only 2 pin fan I could find was the same one. 3 pin is standard. I can't replace it with a better fan. If they did the fan correctly I'd give it 5 eggs

either RMAing this or throwing it out the window

Pros: Cheap, easy to swap out drives, power adapter has a normal sized plug.

Cons: LOUD ...the fan sucks. Seriously. Hide this thing in the basement. Epileptic LEDs. After you hide it in the basement, wrap it in tape.

It doesnt let drives sleep. It will however go to sleep IF your computer does...not much help if it isnt plugged into a computer, or is plugged into a computer that is on 24/7.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to save power, and plug it into my router.

Pros: It Works! I have four 500GB hard drives in a windows storage pool. I use this to store all of my media and it performs very well.

Cons: Wish it was around the $60 mark, but I regret nothing.

Cons: I had no trouble setting up the device. It seemed cheaply made, but for the price that is understandable. But after a year of use, it just stopped working. It will power on and then just power down. Now the replacement I had to pay for is DOA. Just be aware that it is not a long term or reliable solution.

Other Thoughts: Spend a little more

Pros: After conversing with product support at Mediasonic, all of my issues have been cleared up and the enclosure is functioning as designed. Directions were clear, they responded quickly with a solution that worked. I only had to flash the firmware for the solution. They provided the files, and excellent directions. I only give it four eggs because it didn't work for me out-of-the-box...otherwise.....

Cons: None

Pros: As long as the power source works, these work great. Mediasonic do sell replacement ones if needed.

Cons: Windows still won't let you span a disk when connected by USB but it has no trouble when you connect by eSATA.

Other Thoughts: PCI-E cards only have two ports. USB cards have more, but you can't span external drives when you connect with USB. Multiple boxes need multiple cards? I have five external boxes, I'm running out of PCI-E ports.

Pros: worked right out of the box took all my drives 2 1.5tb 2 2tb
the esata worked like a boss never had it work in the past

Cons: the front cover killed air flow and made the drives get hot.

Other Thoughts: a full mesh front cover is needed for better drive cooling

Cons: Lasted 8 months and just bit the dust. No longer able to install it. Just causes system to hang in BIOS on boot. Tried several systems and the same ol thing... last go w/ this brand I rekon

Other Thoughts: Blue light on it was really annoyingly bright! Had to cover it w/ some black electrical tape!!

Pros: Works exactly as expected. Highly recommended if you intend to back up your files to disconnected hard drive storage. I use it for writing backups to hard drives which I then remove to prevent virus contamination. It's also probably good as just a storage expansion, especially if you have a laptop and want more storage to use when you are home at your desk.

Cons: The front opening door does not seem too sturdy, but that's not a huge deal unless you are moving it.

Other Thoughts: I wish they included more then 4 harddrive brackets. They are not needed if you are inserting a harddrive but harddrives are hard to remove without them.

Pros: Design for physical installation of disks is actually pretty nice, easily attached the handles, slid 4 drives into the bays, closed the case and connected it to my eSATA port. Power uses simple 3-prong plug instead of wall wart.

Cons: Well, everything else. I connected power and eSATA, turned it on, lights come on, I hear some drives spinning up, then it just shuts off.

I repeated this a few times, thought I might have a drive that is loosely connected, but reseating each did nothing, nor did removing a couple until there were just 2 drives.
All 4 drives are known good, were working in other external enclosures this morning. Also eSATA port supports Port Multiplier, was using it with Thermaltake BlacX 2-drive enclosure this morning (and switched back to it during troubleshooting).

Switched to USB cable and it worked immediately, but when only eSATA is connected the device powers up and then shuts down after a few seconds.

This is the moronic part - there is a button to switch interface from USB to eSATA, but from the indicator lights it defaults to USB and powers itself off before you have a chance to switch it to eSATA. Possibly it's not detecting the eSATA cable,
but I've tried 2 cables, and reconnected the BlacX, so I know both cables are good, the eSATA port is good and supports Port Multiplier, and the only problem is this enclosure.

Other Thoughts: I hate devices (or software) that fail silently with no indication of the problem and no way to troubleshoot. I'm guessing that it's not detecting the eSATA port - maybe it's eSATA interface is bad? - but I can't troubleshoot it at all to confirm.
So about an hour of my time wasted, I'll be requesting a return.
