2 out of 5 eggsNope, they're still selling duds

Pros: -Looks nice
-Easy to assemble

Cons: -The ESATA connection would cause my PC to freeze upon boot-up or fail to detect the drive in Windows 7. I've tried two different PCs and two different esata cables. :(
-The USB port works as it should, but a dead ESATA port renders this enclosure useless to me

Other Thoughts: After reading the previous reviews, I've decided to take a change and buy this. Please don't make the same mistake.

3 out of 5 eggsDrive disappears

Pros: Inexpensive for supporting USB 3.0 and eSata. It was easy to install a drive.

Cons: The drive would disappear about once to twice a week. I would have to reboot for it show up again. I did get a working replacement. See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the issue before I finally RMA'd the product. Well, I'm not sure I can call it an RMA.... It was a weird support experience.

I couldn't find contact information on their website, but Newegg has it listed on the product page. I emailed the company with a detailed explanation of the issue and a copy of my receipt. I received a single sentence reply, "What's your address?". I provided my address and asked what they intended to do. Reply:"I'm going to send you a new one". A few days later I sent another email asking the status. The reply, "I shipped it." Another email got me the tracking number. Funny stuff.

Anyway, the no questions asked and the fact that they didn't want the old one back tells me it was a known issue. This page was marked discontinued for a while, so now that it's back I suspect that they're only selling the working ones now.

I broke four eggs for the headache that this intermittent issue caused me and the weird support experience. I put two eggs back because they made it right very quickly and the enclosure works great now.

5 out of 5 eggsno regreats

Pros: The Mediasonic HD6-su3s2 eSATA External Enclosure is the first to work every time I turn it on in Windows (7-8 64Bit). Out of a few Bought Here. replaced them with this one no regreats.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Buy It

5 out of 5 eggsWorthy

Pros: Solid construction, dual interfaces (USB 3 and eSATA). And best of all (from my viewpoint), it has the sturdy type B male connector. Not the Micro B Male that some of the other enclosures use.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: Wall wart.

3 out of 5 eggsOK Enclosure, does NOT support 6.0gbps SATA

Pros: Sturdy Construction
eSATA and USB 3.0, comes with both cables
hard drives fit well and hardware to install drives is included

Cons: Drives are recognized as USB to SATA Bridge Device instead of the drive name (unless it is initialized or formatted using a different device, I initialized and formatted one of my drives that I used in one of these enclosures using a USB Drive Mate, and that drive is recognized under the device manager as the correct name, even in the enclosure.)

Newegg's description states that this enclosure is SATA III (6.0gbps) capable internally, which is incorrect. It says right on the box that it is SATA I,II capable only. I'm not sure exactly how these devices work, but I'm assuming that it limits SATA III drives to SATA II speeds because of the hardware.

Included USB cable is short.

Other Thoughts: Overall it seems like a decent, sturdy enclosure but I was sorely disappointed by Newegg's inaccurate SATA III capable description.
