1 out of 5 eggsDefective Batch

Pros: Cheap

Cons: All 25 of these discs have developed a "spot" on the back of them that is a different color than the rest of the disc even though they have not been stored together (including discs that were already burned to). Now, none of the discs can be burned to successfully and none of the discs that were burned previously work anymore. I was using these as a backup solution and am extremely displeased with how they have all failed. Fortunately I found out that they were all faulty before I needed them to restore data from.

I discovered the issue when imgBurn failed to burn to 12 of these discs in a row, then I inspected the disc and saw a strange ~3/8" diameter spot on each of the discs in the same area. I'm not sure where this spot came from as the discs were stored out of light and in different rooms even. That leads me to believe it is a manufacturing defect, even though the spots were not there when I purchased the discs.

Other Thoughts: Makes me worry about the security of long term backups using bluray discs at all...

5 out of 5 eggsNo bad burns

Pros: No coasters, no bad burns. I've burned about 20 of these discs now and with each one, I record the md5sum using dd (Linux). It's been a couple of months since my first burn and so far, I haven't had a single error.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Surface does have some faint printing, but there's plenty of space for labeling the disc yourself with a Sharpie.

4 out of 5 eggsThey work

Pros: Good sale price.

Cons: Slow, but that might be my burner.

Other Thoughts: Took forever to burn a movie, but no problems even with a 3D movie backup.

1 out of 5 eggsBit-rotted after a year - DO NOT BUY!

Pros: None

Cons: Burned fine (Purchased over 200) verified fine, untill ONE (thats right, ONE) year later. Bitrot was evident on the edge of discs working its way though to the center.

Other Thoughts: Wish i hadn't wasted over $200 on discs that fail so quickly. There are reviewers that claim if if you get the ones with the Rioch coating that everythings fine. IT IS NOT. If you have data on these discs, revocer what you can RIGHT AT THIS VERY INSTANT Every day that goes by means your loseing more and more

1 out of 5 eggsSeemed good at first

Pros: Cheap cost.
Seemed to work great at first use.

Cons: Failure and degradation of media after 1 year.

Other Thoughts: I got these about a Year ago and burned most with maybe 3 coasters out of a pack. 1 was the media it's self while the other 2 where user/system error. Pretty typical I find with cheap media.

Each disk was burned at 2x with a LG WH10LS30 using UDF and Nero with verification and then a manual copy of data back to HDD after burning. Each one passed with out issue and worked well for several months after.

How ever after sitting on a shelf in the spindle for about a year, I have had 7 out of 7 disks (Still testing the rest of the disks with little hope they survived) with some sort of read failure, Some more then others. I have tried them on the original drive and 2 other BD-R drives I have and each time they error on the same files.

So while these are cheap and seem to work well at first, I'm finding after a year of sitting in a dark corner the media starts to degrade to the point of having up to 98% data loss.

I normally don't give 1 point reviews, but seeing how most uses for BD-R (or any optical media) in a computer is for back up and archival of data. Having media degradation after only a year, especially when other cheap media I've used is still working after 15 years, makes this completely worthless and a big avoid at all costs in my book.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value (w/LG WH12LS38 )

Pros: I've burned more than a few packs of these (100+) and have had 100% burn rate zero coasters. I ran out and
ran down to one of the local big box stores and bought
a pack of 25. Out of those other brand 25 I got 5 to burn, the rest were coasters. The Optical Quantum
work great with my LG WH12LS38, I'd am gun shy
when it comes to buying any others. Thinking on
trying the 50G versions and see if they are as
reliable.

I've done both BluRay and data (played on LG, Roku, etc) with no issues. Using the standard ImgBurn on
Win7 Ultimate 64-Bit

Cons: Aside from the price going up and down (hopefully
not going up like predicted with all disc media in the
coming months).

5 out of 5 eggsfaster than 4x speed.

Pros: Nero Platnium 10 said the speed was 8x. So after my first coaster ... (my fault) I burned at the 2x speed for safety ... ugh... slow.. then next 4x... and i decided let Nero go .. so i tried the 8 x... bingo it worked.. 25 g in 11 minutes.. using a LG Bluray Writer. The writer did not have updated firmware and i jsut let it roll

Cons: none
