Optical Quantum's DVD+R DL discs feature exceptional performance, reliability, and compatibility. Certified and supported by the industries' high speed Double Layer writers, Optical Quantum discs are approved for high speed burning at up to 8X speeds with a storage capacity of 8.5GBs.

With the added capacity, DVD+R DL media is the preferred DVD media for video and gaming developers. In fact, most Hollywood movies and Video Games for consoles like Xbox are developed on 8.5GB Double Layer discs, and the Optical Quantum DVD+R DL discs are often used by professionals in these fields when making copies for internal use.

  • newegg Huge Storage Capacity The Optical Quantum DVD+R DL disc offers 8.5GB on a single disc, allowing you to save long hours of HD quality video or DVD quality video.
  • newegg 8X Max Data Rate The Optical Quantum DVD+R DL disc with 8X max data rate support allows 8.5GB data to be burned onto a single disc in a short period of time.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Discs Ever

Pros: Cheap - Inexpensive

Cons: 100% failure rate during playback of video even when burned at the slowest rate 2.4x possible.

Other Thoughts: They change the brand. They are no longer Ritek. Purchased 5 packs and which will in the trash shortly. Complete waste of my hard earned $$$$.

1 out of 5 eggsNone Worse

Pros: None.

Cons: After having formatted more blank media of different types than I could count I have apparently forgotten the procedure. Just received my 15th out of 15 failures. Using five different laptops and PC. Only my quad-core I5 desktop showed completed format though disc still unrecognized. No surprise they were heavily discounted. Thanks NEWEGG!

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible - Pack of 50 Coasters

Pros: None.

Cons: These discs are a waste of money. I attempted to burn them in two different burners, one of the burners brand new, updated with the latest firmware, running ImgBurn at every possible speed and configuration. 50 out of 50 discs failed. That's a 100% failure rate. The breakdown is about a half inch before the disc even reaches the layer break. Optical Quantum essentially stole my money and NewEgg is complicit for selling what they know to be fraudulent. These are not DVD+R DL discs, they are plastic coasters painted with the label Optical Quantum on one side.

Other Thoughts: Never buying Optical Quantum again.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far, so good

Pros: These discs are an excellent value when they are on sale, and they are cosmetically attractive compared to some other disc brands that have less subtle logos or printing.

Cons: Based on other reviews, I have only burned these discs at 4x, and not the 8x that the manufacturer claims will work. Which, by the way, is fine by me.

Other Thoughts: When I got these on sale, the price per GB was approaching the price / GB of single layer discs, which is really good and convenient for media files that won't fit on a regular, single-layer DVD.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works like it should, haven't made any coasters yet.

Cons: burns at half advertised speed, which is fast enough.

Other Thoughts: Why do these manufacturers always over estimate their products potential? You can't burn on these discs at more that half rated speed, otherwise you make coasters.

1 out of 5 eggsThe Worst DVD MEdia I Ever Used

Pros: Use as targets at the range, or make them into mobiles to put on the back porch. 100% failure rate.

Cons: I have burned literally hundreds of DVD's using my Acer Veriton M498G.
So far with this package of media I have not been able to burn a single disk without generating so many errors that Nero stopped recording them.

Other Thoughts: An absolute waste of $27.00, you might as well put the cash in the shredder.

1 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for!!!

Pros: Got these on sale for $16. You get 50 in a pack.

Cons: Burnt 2 data dvd's (no obvious write errors). Data was corrupt on both when tried to run the setup.exe! Copied the same data to a USB drive and ran setup without issue!

Should have spent a little more and bought a better quality brand name. Guess that's why they were on sale!

Other Thoughts: Maybe might be good for video or music, but I'm not going to trust these!

1 out of 5 eggsSo far, so bad

Pros: Good price point for these

Cons: Price doesn't help if they won't burn

Other Thoughts: I've been using these DVDs with an external Samsung SE-208DB/TSBS USB drive and have yet to get one that validates after burn. I've burned at 3X and 4X (these are the only two speeds that Nero will detect for these discs in my drive). I don't mind a slower burn time (in fact, I prefer it for archival type data in order to ensure maximum compatibility), but when every disc so far (five out of five) gets verification errors after a "successful" burn, it gets frustrating to wait for over an hour to figure this out.

One of the DVDs even had a noticeable ring in the burned dye layer about 1/2" from the inside that was a different color than the rest of the (completely filled) DVD. It wasn't that way when I put the disc in, so it's some sort of artifact of the burn process.

If I can ever get any successful burns, I will update my review, but until then, I'd stay away. Even though there are essentially only a handful of plants that actually make DVDs and just rebrand them, I've never had this much trouble in the past with other bigger brands (Philips, Panasonic, TDK, etc).

5 out of 5 eggsThey do fine at 2x

Pros: I don't use discs much anymore, but my friends still do, so I always keep a few CDs and DVDs handy just in case. These do just fine for burning a video or making a big music disc to play in a DVD player. The label's pretty unobtrusive and easy to write over, and the lid is great for catching spiders or moths in when they get in the house.

Cons: You're best off burning at 2x despite the speed rating, just because non-computer devices always have trouble with hastily written data, especially on cheap media.
