Pros: The feelings of security that this product brings that your archives won't deteriorate or fade out and become inaccessible.

Cons: 1. Burn rate of an M-disc DVD drive is only 4x so to burn a completely full DVD and have the burn software verify the data of the burned DVD takes around 21 minutes whereas a regular DVD burns much faster. Hopefully, in the future, they will come out with a DVD drive that burns M-discs faster.
2. You have to buy a separate M-disc compatible DVD drive.

Other Thoughts: Over a period of 2 years, I scanned all of our family and ancestor photos onto my computer hard drive. Then I sat around wondering what I should do with all that data. I had heard about the M-disc and decided to try it. I had to buy an M-disc DVD drive, which cost me over $100. A 50 pack of M-discs cost me $150 on-line. About a year later, I bought another 50 pack for $110. I have burned 6 sets of 15 DVD's each, all verified that the data on each DVD was correct.
It took a long time, but the feelings I have that I have provided a long term archive of all our family photos to all my siblings is well worth the effort.
