5 out of 5 eggsWorking Hard

Pros: Build Quality: Very Good
Finish: Very Good
Mftr Packaging: Decent

Received this PSU on 07.08.10 and had it installed and running the same day. It has been in use 24/7 since then with no issues what so ever.

Cons: The only complaint has to do with the LONG wait (12 - 14 weeks after 08.14.10) for the rebate check as per Tuniq's rebate policy.

Other Thoughts: The Tuniq powers my File Server/BOINC crunching box with the following hardware:

CPU: Intel P4 630@3.0Ghz (Prescott - 775 LGA)
MB: ASRock 775XFire-RAID w/i925X Chipset
Mem: (2x) Samsung PC2-3200 512MB
Graphics: (2x) nVidia 8800GT w/Zalman VF1000 VGA Cooler
HDD: Seagate ST980411AS 80GB
Fans: (1x) 120mm & (4x) 80mm

Note: The avg. daily load for the CPU and each GPU is 85%.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Product, Can't say the same for rebate

Pros: Running Core 2 Duo with 8gb ddr2 and dual 9600gt without a hitch*.

Cons: *Did not overclock well but it is only 550w so... Also, rebate is now almost a month overdue, and it's been almost 5 months now. This is ridiculous. I think I may have a chat with the BBB and see what they can come up with.

1 out of 5 eggsFraud--Caveat Emptor

Pros: The mean time between failure is unknown. therefore there is a chance the power supply will work for some period of time.

Cons: SunbeamTech, the parent company, is a small company which apparently does not understand the difference between Chinese standards and American standards. Customers here have an expectation that the products will work and the company has an obligation to fulfill its warranty obligations.

I purchased their well reviewed power supply and it failed within a few months. After a tremendous amount of haggling and delays, I finally received a replacement. It failed too within a month. All of this is under very light operating conditions. Under pressure and more wrangling they finally agreed to fulfill a warranty request. They then tried to deceive me by sending a totally inferior generic power supply. They have continually refused to respond to my letters and calls.

Other Thoughts: I would not accept, much less purchase anything from this outfit. I recommend purchasing from a company that stands behind its products, which can be readily discerned from other product reviews.

1 out of 5 eggsNo Rebate Check -- 3 months later...

Pros: The PSU works great, haven't had a problem, and it offers a lot of connectors for future upgrades.

Cons: I will no longer purchase products because of a Mail In Rebate. They just can't be counted on, I've found. I was supposed to get a $30 rebate for this PSU, and now, 3 months later (Mid March is when I sent in the rebate form, completed to-the-t), the PSU company won't return my email or phone message.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this product if you expect the Mail In Rebate. It probably won't happen.

I realize that I'm giving 1 egg to a product that has provided high quality so far, but when I purchase a product, the price is always a factor. These rebate processors (and I think Tuniq does their rebates in-house) are making these manufacturers look bad, and losing them future sales (from me at least.)

4 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Seems well built, a lot of options for the pricepoint. I like the looks of it, too, although it doesn't matter when it's inside of a comp. case.

Cons: The only reason I took off 1 egg is that I submitted my rebate ppwk a month and a half ago, and haven't rec'd the rebate yet... Yes, I realize that they usually say "6-10 weeks", but that gets ridiculous...

Other Thoughts: 5 stars when I get my rebate, until then, 3 to 4 stars. The rebate makes this already nice PSU an awesome value, IMO... but until I get the check, it's average price for nice, decent PSU.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Unit

Pros: Power saver, quiet, clean (netted together) wiring.

Cons: Didn't need more than two, but it could use more than two SATA pwr supplies. If I was going to hook up multiple cards, I'd be in trouble.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Runs quiet (not media center quiet, but quiet enough). Has all the connectors I needed for my new i7 build. Built very solid.

Cons: Kind of heavy?

Other Thoughts: I was leary about this because I had never heard of Tuniq before, but I have no complaints now. Would buy again.

5 out of 5 eggsPower!

Pros: Functions well and more appropriate for a server than its predeccesor. Stable power for 7 hard drives (needed a few splitters).

Cons: Not as quiet as I would have liked. Could be the acoustics of the closet with a wood floor and several wooden cabinets.

Other Thoughts: Great buy, rebate handled quickly.
