Tuniq’s 650W Potency power supply is an SLi Certified / CrossFire ready unit that delivers vast amounts of power with a high degree of efficiency. In addition to the 2xPCIe connectors there are 6xMolex, 6xSATA and 1xFDD so you can build a powerful system.
Tuniq used a larger than average 140mm fan for super-quiet performance. The advanced fan has a 2-ball bearing design for an extended life cycle. They also engineered an Advanced Off-Line Cooling system that keeps the fan running after you power down the system to extend the life of the PSU.

a very worthy psu
- Pros: i must admit i was a little skeptical at first about this psu because of the lack of reviews, and i'd never really heard of this brand before. figured i'd give it a shot and let the rest of the newegg community in on how things went. read on, fellow newegg-er..
the 2900, while fairly old, is known for being a pretty big power hog. this puppy's got two 2900 pros in crossfire (slightly overclocked), and handles them like a pro. psu is built like a champ, very solid. cheap cheap after rebate. 25 amps on each 12v rail, 650 watts in all, ho ho ho
i ran out of room in the "other thoughts" section, so i'll just put here that i'm a satisfied buyer and tuniq has won me over. at least for power. this psu is highly recommended!!!
- Cons: only has one 6+2 pin pci-e connector, i wanted two. not really a problem though, see "other thoughts"
- Other Thoughts: did some research on tuniq, turns out tuniq is a division of sunbeam. sunbeam makes sorta cheap psu's (never personally used them), but from what i can tell tuniq's psu's are much higher quality than sunbeam's. just compare prices here on newegg and you'll see what i mean.
anyways, here's a lil trick. if you really don't know what you're doing i wouldn't suggest doing this, i'm not responsible if you mess up ur card
a 6 pin pci-e plug provides 75 watts to the card, but an 8 pin provides 150. strange thing is, those two extra pins are just grounds. i wanted two 8 pin pci-e connectors so i could use overdrive in CCC, but this psu only has one (6+2=8). so i got a molex plug, took out the red and yellow wires so only two grounds were left, and rigged that up to my second video card, in addition to the 6 pin plug. essentially, i made my own 8 pin connector. works great! overdrive enabled
my system:
msi k9a platinum athlon x2 5400+ 6gb ddr2 800 2 2900 pros CF 320gb SATA HD 1
It SOOOOO quiet!
- Pros: Seriously, dropping a piece of paper in the trash makes more noise than this PSU. Plenty of power, even for a 9800GT, five (!!) case fans, four HDs, and a quad core! Runs the internal fan for a bit after you power off to cool itself for longer life. Tons of connectors.
- Cons: Not modular, so combined with tons of connectors that means you're GOING to have cables everywhere. Oh well, can't have your cake and eat it too.
- Other Thoughts: Comes in a sexy (well, for a PS) retail box. They're definitely trying to make it feel upscale.

post-buy
- Pros: - plenty of power
- plenty of cables - cheap - solid performance - looks good in my case - long cables too
- Cons: - not modular.. otherwise it would be perfect :[
- Other Thoughts: I was actually one of the first few to buy this psu I think, got it when there were no reviews for it yet. Good specs and it was selling for $40 AR so it was a risky no brainer for me-- and i'm glad I went ahead it with. I was running an old 939 system with a gtx260 and recently upgraded to an i5 750 which uses much less power I think. The psu has not given me any trouble at all, and is very quiet as well. My bro bought the same one and his is running solid as well. If u run a single gpu and all the usuals, this psu should be a great buy for you.
Very good PSU but no rebate
- Pros: Active PFC, low fan noise, High efficiency
- Cons: Only one, I never received my $40 rebate and Sunbeamtech does not respond to email. I told them I would post this if I did not receive a reply. Time's up. You will notice that they have 14 weeks to send it as well. This is so you will forget about it. Newegg should stop advertising the rebate.
- Other Thoughts: If the full or sale price (without rebate) appeals to you then go ahead and buy. There is no rebate so don't believe the bull. Sunbeamtech ( just the US front for Tuniq) won't send what is promised. Power supply quality seems high. Advantages of High eff. and active PFC is that you can use a smaller Battery backup up system, less heat i nthe system, slower fan speeds and lower power use. You can use the VA rating of the UPS instead of the watts rating so more power is available. UPS wattage available = VA x Power factor. Standard PSU is about 0.65 PF, this one is PF of 1.
Reliable power supply
- Pros: Stable rails during testing, I mean rock solid core voltage , 3.3, 5 and 12 volt values recorded by OCCT during stress testing. Quiet, excellent cost to wattage ratio.
- Cons: I purchased this in March of 09 and there was supposed to be a $40 rebate. Good luck getting a rebate. I am still waiting for it (yeah right). It seems this is a common complaint.
- Other Thoughts: At this price you can't go wrong. It is a good buy at twice the cost. I know, I paid it expecting a $40 rebate that never arrived. 4 eggs because of the rebate issue.
