1 out of 5 eggs* Horrible product with horrible service.

This review is from: Tek Republic TUH-300 USB 3.0 4-Port Hub

Pros: * It actually arrived and was sealed.
* Didn't look new at all though.

Cons: * Product is a hit or miss.
* No TekRepublic support.
* Shorted out on me.
* Seems you can only use 1 or 2 products at a time on it.
(That doesn't require a large power draw from usb.)

Other Thoughts: * Product burnt up my cell phone, wireless mouse and Ipod touch.
* Fried my usb ports on my mother board.
* Tried to contact TehRepublic for a month and nothing.
* Newegg told me too bad for my loss. And that was it.

2 out of 5 eggsProblem safely removing

This review is from: Tek Republic TUH-300 USB 3.0 4-Port Hub

Pros: I use this on my Windows 8 laptop, connecting it to a 3.0 usb port. I am transferring files from a 3 TB Seagate drive to a 5 TB Seagate drive. Transfers went just fine.

Cons: When it came time to safely remove a drive, I wasn't given that option. It wants me to safely remove the hub. The 2 drives connected to the hub are seen but are greyed out.

Other Thoughts: I have other hubs that let me safely remove each drive one at a time. I'm not happy with this purchase.

1 out of 5 eggsstarting to fail after 30 days

This review is from: Tek Republic TUH-300 USB 3.0 4-Port Hub

Pros: Small and inexpensive

Cons: Starting to fail after 30 days.

Other Thoughts: This hub is compact, but unreliable. Does not work with USB 3.0 hard drives.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

This review is from: Tek Republic TUH-300 USB 3.0 4-Port Hub

Pros: Works great! I still have devices that use CF cards and I needed one that does it all. In this case most. Read / Write speeds max out the cards I put in it. Very happy with the USB 3 speeds and compatibility

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Wish that the USB 3 cable was just a bit longer. Not that the one is short, but I could use a bit more slack to move it across to the other side of my desk.

4 out of 5 eggsUSB Hub

This review is from: Tek Republic TUH-300 USB 3.0 4-Port Hub

Pros: All USB 3.0 ports, plug and play, all ports run at full 3.0 speeds. Does its job perfectly!

Cons: The USB cable itself is too short. Maybe 3 inches, total. It's not tall enough to reach rear USB ports from the top of any chassis, also the same issue at the front. Which means the HUB hangs in air. Eventually I imagine the cable itself will tear.

Probably going to require a USB extension cable to resolve this.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat 3.0 solution

This review is from: Tek Republic TUH-300 USB 3.0 4-Port Hub

Pros: 3.0 support
not sure which is better, this or the INSTEN octopus. This has 3.0 support, the squid doesn't

Cons: at only 4 ports this is a bit pricier/port than the INSTEN octopus which costs half that and has twice the ports.

I plugged something in wrong way. laptop shut off. not sure if the device i plugged in is to blame (was ps/2 to usb converter for mouse/keyboard) or the laptop.

Other Thoughts: i reccomend getting 1 of these and 1 INSTEN squid. That's more ports than you can shake a stick at with 20 bucks. and you have some 3.0 options. be careful plugging things in.

-1 egg for price. tho still worth it imo
