5 out of 5 eggsSimple and Easy Device

This review is from: Tek Republic TUH-200 USB 3.0 + USB 2.0 4-Port Hub

Pros: Has USB 3.0 port that I hooked up to my 2.5" hard drive and powered at.

Additionally, I plugged a large powered USB hub and a few peripherals into it and it worked great.

Cons: Be better to have more 3.0 ports, but it doesn't act like it has it.

5 out of 5 eggsA decent little hub

This review is from: Tek Republic TUH-200 USB 3.0 + USB 2.0 4-Port Hub

Pros: - Small/compact
- Looks neat
- Pretty cheap
- Great port expansion set in my opinion

Cons: - Not powered externally

Other Thoughts: There's not much to say about something like this. It works as well as you'd expect, and I find it to be a great addition to a laptop bag for when you wanna hook up your peripherals without a cluttered mess of wires going to your laptop. On top of that, it works pretty well. Glad to have purchased it!

5 out of 5 eggsGood Little Widget

This review is from: Tek Republic TUH-200 USB 3.0 + USB 2.0 4-Port Hub

Pros: Small, simple, cheap

Cons: Not a powered hub

Other Thoughts: I got this for sticking all of the little nubs for my wireless keyboards and mice into (I have three of them) for my laptop, so that they didn't occupy most of my USB ports. It works very well for that purpose, and it's easy to tuck into the same pouch as the mouse when I pack the laptop up (I just leave the nubs in it).

It is not a powered hub, and when I tried plugging it into the 2.1 amp "supercharger" port on my laptop with some high-drain USB devices plugged in (an external HDD and a couple of high-power WiFi units) it got extremely warm and the devices behaved erratically, probably the wires inside are too small for drawing that much current. Not an issue for the keyboard/mice nubs (they draw less than 0.1 amp each), but something to avoid.

Since that isn't something you're supposed to even try with unpowered USB hubs, I'm not dinging it for that.

4 out of 5 eggsgets the job done.

This review is from: Tek Republic TUH-200 USB 3.0 + USB 2.0 4-Port Hub

Pros: This little usb splitter is cheap yet still effective. i was able to save my usb 3.0 ports on my laptop by using only one and still having all of my usb 2.0 devices on this hub. so now i can use my extra 3.0 ports for other things. also consider the usb 3.0 pass through on this so technically.... you dont lose your 3.0 port in the first place. plus it is small so it doesnt take up alot of space either.

Cons: but it isnt perfect. i run into issues sometimes when i am filling all of the ports with high power or data requirement devices. some times some of the devices have trouble running right. was alittle disappointed.

Other Thoughts: if you are just trying to get some extra ports on your computer and dont want to spend alot of money then thing will get the job done. just dont expect it to move mountains.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't work for me as USB3

This review is from: Tek Republic TUH-200 USB 3.0 + USB 2.0 4-Port Hub

Pros: Small. Might be fine as a USB 2.0 hub

Cons: On USB 3.0 portable HD's I have problems with random disconnects. This happens on both my computers with all three of my USB 3.0 portable HDs. Other USB3 hubs like TechRepublic TUH-300 and HooToo HT-UH002 stop the disconnects and make my external drives work reliably. This TUH-200 does Not help my USB 3 connections. It is exactly like plugging straight into the computer's USB3 port. Same old random disconnects with portable USB3 HDs.

Other Thoughts: I was hoping for a small/cheap device that would help with my USB3 random HD disconnects. Alas, TUH-200 does not help with random disconnects. It may be working fine for other uses, I did not test

3 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Tek Republic TUH-200 USB 3.0 + USB 2.0 4-Port Hub

Pros: 1 USB 3.0 port. 3 USB 2.0 ports. It is what it is.

Cons: ONLY 1 USB 3.0 PORT! I bought this while I was in a hurry, and didn't notice that of the 4 ports on this, 3 of them are USB 2.0 ports.

Other Thoughts: I was looking for a 4-port USB 3.0 hub. Pay attention to what you are buying. The one time I didn't, I got this device. And to made the error more painful; I had purchased two.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks

This review is from: Tek Republic TUH-200 USB 3.0 + USB 2.0 4-Port Hub

Pros: All ports work as advertised (yes, I tested them)

Cons: Ports are very tight when plugging a device into them. The unit is awkward, no base or stand that it can sit on.

Other Thoughts: Probably would not buy the unit again (even though it works and was inexpensive) based on the awkwardness of the device. I have it velcroed to an external HD enclosure on my desk.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks for a Mac

This review is from: Tek Republic TUH-200 USB 3.0 + USB 2.0 4-Port Hub

Pros: It works on a Mac, everything I plugged in was recognized.

Cons: It's short, and I fear gravity may take its toll as it is just hanging from the computer.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice and small

This review is from: Tek Republic TUH-200 USB 3.0 + USB 2.0 4-Port Hub

Pros: Works like it should.
Nice and small.

Cons: None for me.

Other Thoughts: I use this with my desktop replacement laptop to get a few more ports for my 2 TV tuners, keyboard, mouse, and laptop cooler.

It just works great without any problems.
