2 out of 5 eggsWorked for less than 24 hours

Pros: Worked great for 23 hours
Easy Installation
Windows 7 Update finds driver automatically

Cons: Only worked for 23 hours before failing. The lights on the adapter itself are constant with no signs of network interruption, but the taskbar icon for the device on the Windows taskbar is cycling between all of it's potential states (disconnected, no internet access, obtaining IP address, connected).

Other Thoughts: I work in IT support for a large laboratory conglomerate. I was using this device as a troubleshooting method to help resolve network issues. Clearly the device itself is an issue, thus making it useless.

5 out of 5 eggsperfect solution

Pros: We got two of these for laptops at my work that didn't have gigabit onboard. It was the cheapest, best solution to add it. They were already on wifi which is the likely cause of Windows 7 finding and installing the driver immediately. Others have claimed it couldn't find the driver but they may not have been connected to the internet.

Speeds over the network were comparable to speeds we get on native gigabit so the adapter works perfectly with little to no delay.

Cons: On some computers, this adapter will naturally want to lay right across the mousepad, which gets in the way. Very few laptops put USB 3.0 ports on the left side for some reason.

Other Thoughts: Keep in mind that USB 2.0 to gigabit adapters are extremely stupid. Gigabit can transfer data at a maximum of 125MB/s and in practice it hits 90MB/s. USB 2.0 can only reach speeds of 60MB/s in theory and is practice it rarely breaks 30MB/s. USB 3.0 can carry data at 5x the speed of gigabit so that's how you'll want to connect any USB gigabit adapter.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Works. USB 3, backward compatible with USB 2. Can set link speed 1Gb, 100Mb, etc. Wake on Lan, wake on link change, etc.

Cons: USB cable little short, not detachable from unit so it can be replaced by longer/shorter cable.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Device was recognized by Win 8.1

Cons: Does not connect to internet, attempted a driver update with no better result. System troubleshooter says IP issues, but all protocols are set to assign addresses automatically. This same machine worked great with another USB to LAN adapter, the qualcomm etheros ar948wb-eg.

Other Thoughts: Guessing perhaps that something new in the high speed configuration is incompatible with my 2yr old Asus Ux31e Laptop (Zenbook). will continue to troubleshoot and report back.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent way to add gigabit to a newer laptop

Pros: My laptop's 10/100 network adapter wasn't fast enough for when I needed to do large file transfers. The laptop is otherwise perfect, but I sorely missed the gigabit networking. I get consistent 25-30 MB/sec file transfers in Windows 7 to and from my Samba server. I have not had a single problem with reliability or throughput.

Cons: No driver installation media is included. You get a URL on the packaging to download the driver from. This is not entirely a bad thing, since drivers included with almost every piece of hardware I've ever bought tend to be sorely out of date and buggy or unreliable. The drivers on the website work well. This is not enough of an inconvenience to lower the rating, but it would be nice if this was clearly mentioned in the description.

Other Thoughts: This is an excellent way to add gigabit ethernet connectivity to a laptop that doesn't have it. I would recommend this product.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: great device
very fast

Cons: i have to install the drivers if it is the first time using it on a computer and i use it on lots of computers throughout the day so keep the drivers on a thumb drive is my fix for that.

5 out of 5 eggsTekRepublic TUN-300 Network Adapter

Pros: Works a few seconds after I plug into my DVP11-5130 tablet. Win8.1 had the drivers for the chip so no drivers needed.
Speed was 57Mb/s for internet . Have not tried file transfers yet.

Cons: None so far
