1 out of 5 eggsHigh hopes, but ultimately garbage

Pros: It worked, for a little while.

Cons: Entirely dead within a couple of months. The only thing that works is the blue indicator light that says it's working.

Other Thoughts: Don't waste your money. I had really nigh hopes for this to keep all my devices in at one station. I thought the cables were defective, so I bought new cables. That was dumb. I can't even use it as a paperweight. Very bad purchase on my part. Yeah, and I bought two of them on a shell shocker deal ...

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: When it works, it's great. Wait, no. It's a slower hub. So really, it's barely kind of okay.

Cons: It will break shortly after you get it. The power supply crapped out on mine within 2 months. It cannot power two portable drives and a card reader, even if plugged in the wall. The 2.1amp charging ports died within a month as well. Really, just trash it before you buy it.

Other Thoughts: I'd like my money back.

1 out of 5 eggsdud

Pros: the 2 hi amp phone charging ports are great and still work even though the rest failed

Cons: stopped working as a hub the first week

1 out of 5 eggsNice, when it works

Pros: Small, large number of ports, has it's own power supply.

Cons: My external usb 3.0 hard drive can not be seen by the computer after a while. Same problem happened with an older usb laser printer.

Other Thoughts: If I unplug the hub from the computer and then back in, everything works. I never turn the computer off and it never goes into sleep or standby. I turn the monitor off and come back later to find a device is not connected. It works fine for charging my tablet and it worked fine to power an external usb 3.0 dvd burner. I may have to see if I can return this one and find out if a replacement is any better.

1 out of 5 eggsKinda sorta works

Pros: Only works for USB 2 devices.

Cons: Doesn't work with USB 3 devices. Doesn't provide power (can't charge my phone while plugged into this)

Other Thoughts: Bought it a couple months ago, but was in the process of moving so only first set it up the other day. Way beyind return time. Manufacturers fault it doesn't work as advertised, my fault for not testing it earlier. Still I can't see giving more than one star on a device that doesn't work.

2 out of 5 eggsA blast from the past - Tek Republic TUH-3700 USB 3.0 7 Port

Pros: has many ports, it works so far.

Cons: Using technologies from last millennia, the power supply keeps drawing power even without any load, all of the data ports are on one side (meaning no plugging fat flash drives). The power supply can be used instead of a light dumbbell, yet the hub itself is light to the point that you can accidentally blow it of the table.

Other Thoughts: I'd say that Tekrepublick just wanted to show that USB3.0 was already possible in the 90's, if only somebody would've come up with the protocol back then. And it looks like this hub does not have a back-current so no powering a RaspberryPi with just 1 cable.

1 out of 5 eggsNice but...

Pros: Cheap and lots of ports

Cons: Unplugged it to move all the wires below desk instead of on the top, heard a pop followed by smoke out of one of the charger ports, can't RMA it because I don't have the box, lets see if TR will do anything for me

2 out of 5 eggsNice USB 2.0 Hub; Unreliable as a 3.0 Hub

Pros: This hub is tiny. The power adapter (which is on the large side) is bigger than the hub itself. Comes with a pair of fast charging ports. Recognizes my USB 2.0 devices fine.

Cons: I got this hub to hook to the rear USB 3.0 ports on my Asus Sabertooth Z77 motherboard (i.e., not a cheap, poor-quality motherboard) because the older case I have doesn't have front USB 3.0 ports. While the Tek Republic TUH-3700 USB 3.0 hub works fine with all the USB 2.0 devices I tried, it didn't initially recognize either of the two USB 3.0 devices I use often .. a Corsair Flash drive (i.e., not a cheap, poor-quality USB 3.0 device) or an Orico USB 3.0 SATA hard drive docking station.

I tried both ports on the motherboard and every port on the hub. I mostly got no response at all when plugging in a USB 3.0 device, but I occasionally got an "USB device not recognized" error. I verified that the devices worked properly when plugged into the USB 3.0 ports on the motherboard (bypassing the hub).

Through a bit of testing, I found that if I reboot my computer, all USB 3.0 devices plugged into the hub are recognized, and they work fine until they are unplugged. Rebooting with no USB 3.0 devices plugged means that no USB 3.0 devices will ever work.

I also found out that if I leave one USB 3.0 device hooked to the hub at all times, I can unplug and plug in other USB 3.0 devices as often as I want, and the newly-plugged-in devices are recognized and work correctly. It doesn't matter which ones I unplug or plug back in so long as at least one USB 3.0 device is left plugged in at all times. (Leaving a USB 2.0 device plugged in doesn't help with USB 3.0 devices being recognized when they are plugged in.) It appears that this hub wasn't thoroughly tested with a single USB 3.0 device.

I won't always have USB 3.0 devices plugged into the hub, and I'm not keen on rebooting my PC every time I want to use a 3.0 device via the hub, so I think NewEgg is going to be getting this one back. It was supposed to make managing USB 3.0 devices simpler for me, but it complicated things instead.
