BFG proves once again that they have their finger on the pulse of the gaming community. The GS-550 is a highly efficient power supply at a reasonable price. They wrapped the whole thing in a black chrome finish that will enhance the look of any gaming rig.
They recognized that gamers need stable power that’s why this is a dual +12V rail system. That keeps power balanced across all components, even if you load all the connectors. Which would be hard to do since there are 2xPCIe, 4xMolex, 4xSATA and 1xFloppy. All of the cables are sleeved for better air flow in the case and easier cable management.
The 140mm intake fan keeps air moving over the internal components to increase both efficiency and product life. Thermal Control Technology regulates the fan speed to deliver the optimal balance between fan noise and cooling.
Pros: I bought one of these almost a year ago from a local retailer because I wanted to build my PC over the weekend and needed a PSU. It was $99 and I thought it was a good deal because it had a nicer finish than the other $100 PSU's, had sleeved cables, had a big fan, had a BUNCH of connectors (including two PCI express connectors) and a decent warranty. Now I come to Newegg and find the exact same unit for $35 less???? I looked at the online store for the store I bought it from and sure enough... it was still $99! Newegg does it again! Now we just need Newegg retail stores so I can satisfy that urge to have something NOW!
Cons: None! It's about 9 months later and mine's still rocking!
Other Thoughts: Newegg: Why didn't you have this PSU last year? I would've waited another weekend to build the PC!

Pros: Bought this for a new 'value' build for my Dad. Originally had Antec Earthwatts 500W spec'ed out because it was the lowest price 80-certified PSU I could find. Unfortunately, Newegg had this on back order so I went with the BFG at the last minute am not diasspointed. PSU case looks really good, all cables come sleeved which saved me from having to do it, plenty of connector options and really quiet! Hard to beat for price!
Cons: None other than usual for this price range - i.e. connectors not modular and Molex connectors aren't seated all that great in their housings, but overall great buy at $50 after rebate!

Pros: Quiet.
This power supply has plenty of cables for a reasonable midrange system. It runs my overclocked Phenom II 550 BE system with two CD drives, 4 hard drives, and a floppy drive without problems. I'm only using a Radeon 4670 so I'm not pushing the limits there of power consumption there.
Cons: Not Modular?
Other Thoughts: So far it works great and I'm had no problems. Good solid PSU for the price.

Pros: I needed this to power a BFG GeForce 9800 GT graphics card. The installation was effortless. I removed the old power supply with 4 screws, installed this one and then moved the cables one by one to the new power supply. The only thing left was to power it up. It is quiet.
Cons: None

Pros: It has been running since Jan 09 with no problems. The 140mm fan is still quiet and powers my 4870 without a hitch. I have an oc'ed Phenom 550 @ 3.8, HD4870, two hard drives, and five 120mm fans. This has protection against overpowering so it should not harm other components if being overpowered.
Cons: connectors are little cheap but when they have been connected a couple times the pins straighten up and work like butter
Other Thoughts: I have been well pleased with this product.
