Superior Quality
- Pros: This is a very well built, high quality PSU. There are lots of "1000W" PSUs that cannot keep pace with this, not even close. Using a load tester, I've managed to max load in range that would satisfy almost all available periphials. Powering 2 8800 Ultras, QX6850, 4GB, and 4 HDD, I experience no detectable sags on any rail, and using an attached power readout, I stay within all variables I've put out. That's something that many 1000W PSUs didn't do.
- Cons: This is not really a con but a note: the build quality makes this unit very heavy and deep. So, make sure your case can support both, and don't mount this into a flimsy case.
- Other Thoughts: With so many 850s, 1000W, and 1200W PSUs on the market, you'll find that getting one that is high efficiency and a good performer is really the way to go. Power supplies with tons of wattage and poor efficiency ratings waste power and do not give you really what you want. Accomplish the most you can without wasting the most energy. That should always be part of the goal.
Just What I Needed
- Pros: It works. Has plenty of cables and they're all pre-wrapped. I'm glad I didn't go with the 1k watt PSU I was considering. This PSU works great for what I need it for and allows for plenty of expandability.
- Cons: I wish the cables were a little bit longer. Having to mount the PSU at the bottom in my Antec 900 case, it was a bit of a stretch to connect the 8-pin CPU power connector. It connected fine, but didn't allow for ideal/preferred cable routing.
- Other Thoughts: Even with the con, I'd definitely buy this PSU again.
