1 out of 5 eggsLOUD and Poor Support

Pros: Works, plenty of connections, beefy wiring

Cons: Extremely loud and makes an annoying whine/hum that did not exist with my old power supply. It actually hurts my ears and I will have to return it.
Support was a real problem. I submitted a request immediately. 2 days later I received an acknowledgment of my submission, but I have never been contacted and not gotten any answer from the company.

5 out of 5 eggsLots of Power!!! and Tons of connectors

Pros: Connectors for everything. All the ATX MB power connectors you need. Plenty of SLI/CrossfireX power connectors. They even included some Legacy connectors i.e. for floppy drive if you need it. Nice clean power even comes with a calibration sheet with how all the voltage lines left their facility.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This is my 3rd PC power and cooling Supply. Even though the company has changed hands since I became a customer, their quality is still top notch. I had a supply die after about 5 years of use. (had a 3 year warranty) I called them up and for the price to ship it to them they repaired it for free. It's still chuggin' 4 years later.

5 out of 5 eggsCouldn't wait any longer

Pros: Extremely well engineered power supply with absolutely tip top components, testing, and warranty. Real PC P&C design, not a rebrand.

Cons: Genuine PC Power & Cooling products that are designed in-house are hard to come by at times.

Other Thoughts: Worth every penny. Originally ordered from some company (like pro advantage minus one A), while it was out of stock here at NewEgg and literally everywhere else, for almost $100 less than NewEgg. Order went to a 3-month limbo, terrible customer support. I finally had it with that company and pounced as soon as NewEgg had them back in stock, just in time for the price to fall $100 here afterwards. Doh! Still, it was worth every penny for this kind of quality. At the price they are as of this review, they are a steal, and you can't get a better company to buy from than here.

1 out of 5 eggsBlew up/tripped breakers

Pros: Ran good, for a while. lotsa wires and connectors, should make me a dollar when I recycle it.

Cons: Blew up and tripped my house breaker.
Too expensive to only last 1.5 years and I was in Iraq for half the time.

Other Thoughts: If it smoked my expensive motherboard or video or memory, I'm gonna be ticked off bad...

4 out of 5 eggsGenerally good product RMA process VERY slow

Pros: I have nothing but PC power and Cooling power supplies in my computers. Good Warranty and actually can talk to people when a real issue arrises. Have always had good luck but one failed, see below.

Cons: A PSU failed, still under warranty. Followed RMA directions sent it back FedEx so I would have a tracking number. Shipping time under 4 days, FedEx notifies me product delivered. On friday, OK--- Check RMA sight following Tuesday, showe not received, call get a person on third ring - talk about people picking up the phone fast! -- Sorry we can't process incoming RMA's until the end of month closing completes on the computers. HUH??? Should show up in 2 days of delivery (it already is) OK, Check Thursday, still not showing as received, call again, still cant process incoming as end of mont closings not done! OK now youve had it 7 days and still can't do anything with it because of "End of month closings" As it took me a week to diagnose the issue my problem not theirs, and 4 days shipping, again not their fault as I paid for ground, (really glad I did not pay for over night!!) but to have the item in your possession for a week and not be able to do anything is not good.

Other Thoughts: I may have to start buying another reputable brand (not OCZ as they own PC Power & Cooling) that doesn't come to a screeching halt when the end of the month comes around. They can only operate 3 weeks a month???

5 out of 5 eggsHope it can handle GTX480

Pros: Powers my X5550, GTX260, 12GB RAM, and 4 SSDs

Cons: Upgrade path may be limited

Other Thoughts: The GTX 480 can draw up to 440 watts, that will be pushing the envelope if I upgrade to it AND another X5550 (they draw 130 watts each). Add some PSU degradation and it might give problems when fully loaded after a few years. I have a PCP&C 1KW PSU from 3 years ago in another dual xeon system and it's still strong so I have faith.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat can be said?

Pros: What can I say; it's a PCP&C PSU and these things are built like little brick houses.

Runs cool and quiet.

Cons: I didn't get this at the bake sale!

2 out of 5 eggsWhat did it KILL !

Pros: Seemed to be perfect, until it died with no warning.

Cons: Tech says its probably a capacitor?? They seem to be very aware of this problem!!!! Waiting to see if it killed my Asus Mobo and ATI 4890 video Card, or any other parts. Power Supply definitley let the smoke out !!

Other Thoughts: Had heard nothing but good things about PC Power & Cooling, until this and a little research indicated other wise. RMA Process a little labored and slow. Now on to the repair and we will see what they are made of. In the mean time I will have to get a new power supply, (probably not one of their's), because this might take a while longer than I thought.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi, we aplogize for the trouble. Being the originator of the enthusiasts power supply we have seen every type of failure possible, and our staff has been fully trained to recognize them. The PSU has built in protection circuits and your other components should be fine. We will fully test and repair your PSU, and return it to you.
