5 out of 5 eggsLove it!

Pros: Quiet, cool running, easy fit, extra taps including SATA.

Cons: None I can see, except I would have liked 4 SATA connections instead of 2. STRICTLY FOR OLDER DELLS ONLY.

Other Thoughts: I bought this unit for the 4TB RAID-5 media server I just built into an old Dimension 8200 I had kicking around. The original factory 250w was working fine (& quietly) but I wanted native SATA power taps and plenty of wattage headroom for what will be a critical box on my home network. It took 15mins total to fit and works like a dream.

5 out of 5 eggsPC Power & Cooling Silencer Power Supply

Pros: Easy install in my 7 year old Dell Dimension 8200. This is one super quiet running power supply. I could not be happier with the performance of this power supply. I was looking for a quite one and the SILENCER came through!

Cons: Lots of extra cables to tuck away inside your case.

Other Thoughts: If you are in need of a replacement power supply look no furthur. This is one quiet running unit!

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for Dell Dimension 4600

Pros: So quiet I had to check the PC was actually on. Perfect fit for a Dell Dimension 4600.

Cons: None whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: I actually wrote a review for this PSU about 30 minutes ago. I purchased this for a Dell Dimension E520 but it didn't fit. I was going to return it, but I happen to also have a Dell Dimension 4600, and on checking I found this PSU was a perfect match for it.

To return it would cost me shipping plus 15% restocking fee, so I just dropped it in the 4600 instead to replace the stock PSU there.

I realized how I messed up though. I went to PC Power & Cooling website and found the Silencer 470 was the correct match for the Dell E520. I see now that Newegg don't have the 470, so presumably I clicked this 410 PSU instead.. rather silly of me. An $80 lesson learned though (incl shipping).

Hey Newegg.. would you consider swapping for the 470?

4 out of 5 eggsapparently not for Dell Dimension E520

Pros: Looks nice enough, and from most accounts it's a good little performer, but I was unable to use it (refer 'other thoughts'). I had to give a rating, so I gave it 4 eggs as that was the average at time of this comment.

Cons: n/a

Other Thoughts: After a search on many sites, I read this would be fine with a Dell Dimension E520. It was not. It is smaller than the stock 305W Dell PSU, and has a 20 pin connector, whereas the E520 has 24 pin (although that's not the fault of this PSU of course).

I didn't even try installing it - could see the mismatch as soon as I had the PSU and the open Dell case in front of me.

Shows you can't believe what you read on the internet, even from reputable websites. Unfortunately I'll have to return it (with 30 day return period).

3 out of 5 eggsdied within a month

Pros: usually a great company, quiet, should be able to power a decent rig.

Cons: died within two months. used it in a system with an e2180 @ stock, 9600GT @ stock, ds3l, 4gb memory, and two hard drives. it should be able to power that system just fine, but one day it just popped really loud, and it was gone.

Other Thoughts: pcp&c was really good about giving me an RMA, but i wasn't so good at actually sending it to them... i just haven't had the time to send it in.

Their Willingness to give me an RMA is why this product gets three eggs, they didn't try to get around it like most companies do.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi, we are sorry for the problem. We encourage you to send us your PSU in to us, so we can get it back to you in top working condition. We care about our customers and want your experience to be the best possible.
Thanks

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic PS

Pros: I have replaced the PS in Dell's before, typically using a standard PS, and having to mod the case to account for the power switch. This is such a nice fit; quiet, and well built. I will definitely use this for any Dell's I repair from now on. A little pricey but worth it.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Came the next day! Amazing.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: this PSU is an exact/direct fit replacement for my Old Dino-putersaur Dell Dimension 2350...it took all of about 15 minutes to install including opening the pc case, disconnecting the old PSU and re-connecting this new one.
and it's very quiet.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: if you have an older Dell, this PSU is a great upgrade.

1 out of 5 eggsBadly labeled

Pros: It's a PC&P. If you're buying a PSU, it should say PC&P on it. However, DON'T BUY THIS ONE IF YOU AREN'T SERVICING A DELL. Yes, nowhere else will it tell you on this page but this review that this is a DELL ONLY UNIT.

Cons: This only fits DELL units. It says so on the box, it says so in some angry reviews (like this one) but it doesn't say it on the PRODUCT PAGE or the SPECIFICATIONS. Also, now Newegg wants a restocking fee to send it back!

Other Thoughts: This could've been avoided by making a minor alteration to the 'Eggs product page here. Since they aren't doing it, customers are trying to by leaving negative reviews.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are sorry for the problem. We agree that the wording on this product listing is incomplete. It should be similar to the product link below to designate that the unit is intended for Dell systems only. Since this unit will not work in a standard PC, we urge you to contact Newegg and point the differences in the listings out to make this clear.
Thanks

5 out of 5 eggsSo far, so good

Pros: You don't realize how noisy your power supply is until you install one that is quiet. Easy to install as a replacement in my Dell Dimension 4400 (I found this PSU on PC Power and Cooling's website). It's a step up from the 250W provided with the system by Dell.

Cons: None so far! PC Power and Cooling has a great reputation and has lived up to it.

Other Thoughts: I was actually linked to this item from PCPandC's website, so I had no issue identifying it as a Dell compatible unit.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Dell Dependable . . .

Pros: This PSU fits like a glove into the Dell Dimension ClamShell case. Installation is a breeze. Fit, finish and function are superb. I have several of these and they have all fit and worked perfectly. This PSU will operate cool and quiet.

Cons: It only fits into the Dell Dimension ClamShell case.

Other Thoughts: You can sell your OEM Dell PSU on that big on-line auction web site to recoup at least half of the cost of this upgrade. Do it! More power for your DVD Burner and Video Card at very little real cost to you.
