Love it!
- Pros: Quiet, cool running, easy fit, extra taps including SATA.
- Cons: None I can see, except I would have liked 4 SATA connections instead of 2. STRICTLY FOR OLDER DELLS ONLY.
- Other Thoughts: I bought this unit for the 4TB RAID-5 media server I just built into an old Dimension 8200 I had kicking around. The original factory 250w was working fine (& quietly) but I wanted native SATA power taps and plenty of wattage headroom for what will be a critical box on my home network. It took 15mins total to fit and works like a dream.
PC Power & Cooling Silencer Power Supply
- Pros: Easy install in my 7 year old Dell Dimension 8200. This is one super quiet running power supply. I could not be happier with the performance of this power supply. I was looking for a quite one and the SILENCER came through!
- Cons: Lots of extra cables to tuck away inside your case.
- Other Thoughts: If you are in need of a replacement power supply look no furthur. This is one quiet running unit!
Perfect for Dell Dimension 4600
- Pros: So quiet I had to check the PC was actually on. Perfect fit for a Dell Dimension 4600.
- Cons: None whatsoever.
- Other Thoughts: I actually wrote a review for this PSU about 30 minutes ago. I purchased this for a Dell Dimension E520 but it didn't fit. I was going to return it, but I happen to also have a Dell Dimension 4600, and on checking I found this PSU was a perfect match for it.
To return it would cost me shipping plus 15% restocking fee, so I just dropped it in the 4600 instead to replace the stock PSU there.
I realized how I messed up though. I went to PC Power & Cooling website and found the Silencer 470 was the correct match for the Dell E520. I see now that Newegg don't have the 470, so presumably I clicked this 410 PSU instead.. rather silly of me. An $80 lesson learned though (incl shipping).
Hey Newegg.. would you consider swapping for the 470?
