Pros: I do not have a dell and mistakenly ordered this one instead of the PPSC500.

I spoke with PPC tech support and they stated that this is the same unit internally as the PPCS500.

The difference: 10 mm in length (140mm Dell version vs 150mm) and a manual power switch on the back. The screw locations are the same for mounting.

The cables are identical and pinouts are the same. You can compare the two on their site and the cable drawings are exactly the same.

So those who would like to use this on a non Dell build.. you can.

Great Dimension 4700 upgrade Psu

Pros: Much quieter than the stock Dell psu. I barely hear it. Pretty easy to install in my Dell Dimension 4700. Gives me enough power to upgrade my video card. Finally!! Feels well built. Cabling is good quality. Lots of connectors

Cons: For me just a few more cables than I needed. Took a little extra time to route them in a proper manner. No biggie. Still giving it 5 out of 5

Other Thoughts: Dell Dimension 4700. Fits good. All screw holes lined up. No gaps at all. Had to take the rear fan out of the way to put this psu in. That was easy. My first psu install. Took me around 25 minutes. But most of that was just cleaning dust out of the PC . Actual psu install probably 10 minutes. Powered on and no problems so far.
This psu and the new video card will keep my dell 4700 going for another 2 years. If you have a 4700 and want to upgrade your card get this psu. You wont regret it.

Pros: I searched around on the net for info on a solid PSU for a Dell system, and they said this was the one to get.

Cons: After about a month, it started to make a chirping type noise, so i opened it up, knowing that it would void my warrenty, to see if i could fix it. Turns out the noise is not coming from the fan but it sounds like its by the capacitor or something

Other Thoughts: Computer is still running fine for about 2 months. Still not confident that its going to last more then 6 months. I

If anyone else has had this problem and fixed it please post how you did it.

Pros: Automatically detects input voltage (no selector), has every plug you'll need and more, clean steady power

Cons: No included zip ties for cable management, no power switch on box

Other Thoughts: Powers an E8500 cpu and HD 4890 gpu with no problems. There are a lot of cables (it's not modular) so make sure you have some zip ties on hand to put away the unused cables neatly. There's no power switch on the back, which kind of bothered me. Finally, I had to install it upside-down in my case, but that might just be my case.
