5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Quality Power Supply

This review is from: FirePower PPCMK3S500 Silencer MK III 500W 80Plus Bronze Sem-Modular ATX PC Power Supply, Formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: Modular design helps reduce wire clutter and improve cable management.

Cons: None as of this moment.

Other Thoughts: I have owned this power supply for well over 3 years now and have yet to experience any issues. Fan continues to run quietly, and keeps my system running stable. Will definitely buy another PC P&C product again.

2 out of 5 eggsLooks like there's a first time for everything...

This review is from: FirePower PPCMK3S500 Silencer MK III 500W 80Plus Bronze Sem-Modular ATX PC Power Supply, Formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: Dead-silent.
Excellent modular plugs.
Long cable length good for full-tower cases

Cons: Died after just a few hours

Other Thoughts: I've been exclusively purchasing PC Power and Cooling power supplies since the company's inception. I've purchased probably eight of their supplies over the years and until this unit, they've always been unparalleled in quality, silence, and durability.

The reason that I've owned this for less than a week? It died after just a few hours of use. Borrowed another supply from a different computer to rule out anything else on the new build, and it works just fine. Plugged suspected dead supply into the other computer as a final test, and it wouldn't power up either.

I tired to exchange, but Newegg is out-of-stock. Will probably purchase another based on past experiences when it comes back into stock.

Note that PC Power and Cooling was since purchased by OCZ, and has since been spun off as FirePower...I hope their quality isn't slipping.

5 out of 5 eggsSilencer MK III 500W Review

This review is from: FirePower PPCMK3S500 Silencer MK III 500W 80Plus Bronze Sem-Modular ATX PC Power Supply, Formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: A fairly cheap Seasonic based unit.
It still works after 11 months of 24/7 usage and it's pretty silent.

Cons: Only two PCIe connectors.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my HTPC and it's not bad for a PSU that cost less than $60.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU

This review is from: FirePower PPCMK3S500 Silencer MK III 500W 80Plus Bronze Sem-Modular ATX PC Power Supply, Formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: I've owned this PSU for over a year now, and it has been nothing but good to me. The modular build was simple to work with, and it came with the cables that I needed. It may only be 500W, but that is plenty for most builds. I am running an i5 system in a NZXT Phantom, with a GTX560 and Corsair H60 liquid cooling, and I've never had a shortage. Not to mention, it's quiet.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If you're looking to have more than one GPU in your build, you should probably look into a 750W. Even if 500 or 600 will do the job, you want to future proof your build for changes.
