5 out of 5 eggsUPDATE Firepower OUTSTANDING

This review is from: FirePower Silencer MK III 1200W 80Plus Platinum Metallic Aviation Sem-Modular ATX PC Power Supply PPCMK3S1200, formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: Great customer service

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Update to my review below. I called customer service to inquire about buying another 4 pin connector cable and the customer service sent it out FRE of charge. FIRST CLASS OPERATION.

BTW, this PSU is rock solid.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

This review is from: FirePower Silencer MK III 1200W 80Plus Platinum Metallic Aviation Sem-Modular ATX PC Power Supply PPCMK3S1200, formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: It looks great and I can't even hear it. Mostly because my CPU fan is so much louder compared to it.

Cons: Where can I buy more cables for the GPU for this thing? Looking for hours!

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

This review is from: FirePower Silencer MK III 1200W 80Plus Platinum Metallic Aviation Sem-Modular ATX PC Power Supply PPCMK3S1200, formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: It's a PC P&C, I've never had one of their products ever fail on me and this one is doing just as well. Replaced my 750W with this and had the other one for years.

Cons: It's white and my case is black?

This review is from: FirePower Silencer MK III 1200W 80Plus Platinum Metallic Aviation Sem-Modular ATX PC Power Supply PPCMK3S1200, formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: This power supply is of quality unmatched by its competitors. The fact that pc power and cooling tests each and every unit before it leaves their factory speaks volumes about their dedication. it was also partially the deciding factor in making the decision between it and carsair AX 1200i.

Cons: It was not free

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely rock solid PSU

This review is from: FirePower Silencer MK III 1200W 80Plus Platinum Metallic Aviation Sem-Modular ATX PC Power Supply PPCMK3S1200, formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: Very quiet (nearly silent) - stable, tolerant and powerful - but most of all, reliable.

This is an enthusiast's power supply, through and through. You already know the deal. If you're going to build up, you'd better have headroom for power.

So far, I've been adding, and adding - devices to this thing. I still can't dent it.

Price wise? See for yourself. Then again, it's been a year to date since I picked up mine for 200$ on a black November sale. I'll say this - at this thing is worth it at it's retail price of 299.99 - so if you pick it up for anything less than that? Pat yourself on the back, because you just found your PSU for the next 3 generations.

Cons: My only complaint are the PCI-E chords. Yeah, their modular, which is nice... but come on, only ONE 6 pin PCI-E plug, per chord? Are you kidding me?

So I'll tell you this. For most cards, you've got two 6 pin power plugs - there are two that are hard-wired to the PSU bundle (so they wont take up any of the PSU output plugs) - but if you wanted to run, say - Tri-SLI? Well plan on four of your outputs being dedicated to those GPU's - no choice in the matter.

It's a head scratch-er to me, only because I've seen plenty of PSU's that use TWO PCI-E plugs on ONE PCI-E power cable. This is a 1200w power supply. Why not this one?

Either way, SATA, MOLEX - both will come daisy chained with three plugs, on one cable.

All things considered - overall. this is a minor complaint. It runs everything below with ease - however, I am now maxed out on outputs.

Other Thoughts: This PSU was geared up for a current gen build for an Ivy-Bridge i7 - it's effectively powered the following system, without a single hiccup:

LGA 1155 ASUS Maxiumus Extreme V Mobo
Intel i7 3770k @ 4.5ghz (1.27 vcore)
Corsair H100i Extrene
32GB Corsair Dominator Platinum @ 2400mhz
Tri-SLI EVGA GTX-670FTW 4GB
mPCIe Wifi/Bluetooth Card
Samsung 840 EVO 250gb SSD
SanDIsk Extreme 240gb SSD
Crucial mPCIe SSD 120gb SSD
WD Black 2TB HDD
WD Red 2TB HDD
1 Optical DVD RW Drive
A variety of USB Accessories (LED Keyboard, LED Mouse, Thrustmaster Warthog, Logitech Wheel)
Variety of Fans (2 ea 140mms, 10 ea 120mm + 1 LED RAM cooler) Note: Not that it'd of been that big of a drain, but I'm not too big on LED fans, so none of those fans have lights

And I've still got room to spare, I usually can hover around 700-800 watts depending on whether were idle or not - plenty of headroom remaining! Hope that helps put your plans into some perspective - what I'm trying to get at is, unless you plan on building a super computer, you'll likely have plenty of power to spare with this unit.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome psu

This review is from: FirePower Silencer MK III 1200W 80Plus Platinum Metallic Aviation Sem-Modular ATX PC Power Supply PPCMK3S1200, formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: Single 12v rail, modular, quite, and all the power I could ever want. Nice sleeving and the modular attachment is insane secure.

Cons: Only one bad thing I have to say about this is the same with every psu. All the SATA powers are the opposite way I would like them to be, but a bit of repinning fixed that.

Other Thoughts: The long warranty on this product make me feel like I wont have to buy another psu for a long time, so to me this is completely worth the price tag.

5 out of 5 eggsWow

This review is from: FirePower Silencer MK III 1200W 80Plus Platinum Metallic Aviation Sem-Modular ATX PC Power Supply PPCMK3S1200, formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: When they say it's silent they mean it. 1200 Watts and it's paired with an i7 3930k and two GTX 780 Titan SC editions. Modular makes things easy and cord setup is a breeze when paired with the Thermaltake level 10 GT

PC Power and Cooling tests their PS units before they ship so it minimizes the chance you will get one that is DOA unless it is damaged during shipment. This is my 4th PCPC that I have purchased and all of them have been flawless.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Power Supply

This review is from: FirePower Silencer MK III 1200W 80Plus Platinum Metallic Aviation Sem-Modular ATX PC Power Supply PPCMK3S1200, formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: Super quiet (stealth), modular, 92% efficient at 50% load (amazing) = save you $$ on your electric bill during the year, 7 year warranty, well engineered connections! What's not to like? PC Power and Cooling is one of the best and their brand name has not been diluted by the OCZ brand taking over. Still good engineering.

Cons: The only CON I found, however this is surprising, is that they only give you ONE modular connector with four regular style 4 pin connectors (the rest are SATA). I realize SATA is more popular but if you have older drives and or lots of 4 pin fans, then this is an issue and they don't offer to sell you any of these on their website either in the accessories section! I guess I'll have to contact them directly for these? For what this supply costs, they should throw in another one and not leave you with only 1.

Other Thoughts: Other than the 1 con, this is the best power supply I've ever owned so far and while 1200W is overkill for most people, 92% efficiency at 50% load isn't and is well worth the investment. If only everyone was running this efficiently on every PC in America! 80 Plus Platinum baby! Plunk down the change on this supply (it will last you and pay for itself in the long run)!
