5 out of 5 eggsNice PSU but cable management sucks

Pros: Picked this on last weeks Shell Shocker with rebate so my final cost will come out to under $80 if I get the rebate.

I must admit this sucker is dead silent even on the setting to always have the fan running you never hear it even when maxing my system out with Crysis I have yet to hear the PSU fan.

Cons: My only complaint is the modular cables are cheap and very tough with not much flexibility. This makes cable managment a pain. I previously was using a Raidmax 630 Hybrid. Its modular cable management was awesome and the cables were perfect for routing in your case. Though some people dis like the Raidmax product line and wanting to Crossfire to 7870 XT I needed more than the 630 watt's it provided.

Other Thoughts: Outside of the cable management this is an awesome PSU.

3 out of 5 eggsShuts on and off

Pros: It looks really good and for when it is on it sounds quiet

Cons: The power supply will turn on for a couple of seconds and then turn itself off, then it will turn on again and turn off. It never ends, and I don't know if its the psu or something I did

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Anonymous,

We are happy to assist you with this. Please contact us using the link below. Most often this has to do with motherboard configuration and isn't related to the PSU. Either way we will help you get your system up and running properly or make arrangements with you for a replacement.

Kind Regards,
PC Power & Cooling/OCZ Support

5 out of 5 eggsSo far, really good!

Pros: Everything I mentioned earlier...

Cons: Everything I mentioned earlier...

Other Thoughts: From hardwaresecrets, PC Power & Cooling followed-up with their Editor and stated their design implementation for this PSU in terms of surge protection -- and although I'm not an EE, it's sounds more than sufficient. IMHO, it's a great unit and I'd like to report that I'm keeping my unit and I'm having no troubles with it -- since I put it in, roughly about 3-4 weeks ago [running 24/7], the machine has been on running 4 VM's, 5 HD's with 32GB of RAM with an i72600 CPU, and not a single issue. If you're on the fence about it, go ahead, it's a real solid performer.

5 out of 5 eggsSweeeeeeet

Pros: Best Looking PSU
Great Build Quality
Amazing packaging
Completely silent

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This thing looks sweet in my white BitFenix case. Completely silent even when stress testing. The benefits this PSU gives you for cable management are amazing. Everything was packaged like a premium product should be. As others have said this is a Seasonic PSU so you know it means business.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate Review -- So far, so good.

Pros: 1. Good Voltages:
According to Gigabyte EasyTune 6 / CPUID HW:
+3.3v == 3.383
+12v == 12.168
DDR A/B == 1.536
+5v == No reading (see other thoughts)
2. Very nice white finish and cables.
3. Great cable plug-in system -- just wish they put more of the Sata connections towards the front rather than the rear, where some of the MB headers connections are, hard to put in the connection when fingers are bumping into the MB header connections -- but in no way a deal breaker.
4. Very well packed by PC Power & Cooling.

Cons: 1. With the Carbide 500R HDD's being mounted perpendicularly, the cables provided are kind of stiff and you'll find yourself having to play smoosh the cables to keep it in the case. I did the smooshing and had to push the side case in to lock it with considerable pressure to keep it on before being able to screw the case side panel on.

Other Thoughts: Wow, Gigabyte cheaped out. No +5v sensor on the Z77X-UP3H TH. I wish I could monitor my +5v! (No fault to OCZ/PC Power & Cooling)

My System:
1. i7 2600
2. 32GB Crucial Ballastix Sport RAM
3. 4 WD drives
4. 1 Seagate Drive
5. Corsair Carbide 500R

Final thoughts: If this PSU is built to last (only time will tell, the obvious) then I highly recommend it -- just make sure you're plugged in to a surge protector.

4 out of 5 eggsNot Sure Yet

Pros: Just bought it, and I'm about to install it in a new build, but I have concerns already about the quality based on review sites: 1. No MOV on the Transient Filter Stage which is pretty basic to have on mid-high end PSU's. 2. What IC is used to actually monitor the protections? Review sites can't find it, but they can on the cheaper 600W version! 3.) Why no temp overload sensor even though there a temp sensor to determine when the fan kicks in? I hope OCZ/PC Power and Cooling can address these questions here.

Cons: Hopefully, I'll find none!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear adobepro,

Thank you for both of your positive reviews and your careful attention to this fantastic PSU! I would love to discuss the MOV concern with you. If you email me at rcampbell at ocztechnology dot com I will be happy to share reasoning and specifics.

Thank you again for your purchase!

Sincerely,
PCPC/OCZ Support
