5 out of 5 eggsFits perfectly. Bought it for new video card in old PC.

Pros: This PSU fits perfectly into the Dell 400sc (listed compatible by Startech and by the Newegg business site, since the Dell 400sc is a small business server). The list of compatible Dell systems is different on the Newegg consumer site versus the business site. However systems from both Newegg sites are compatible per Startech's products sheets.

Relatively easy to extract the old power supply and put in the new one. Just two screws secure the old PSU to the case. There is a third screw hole but you won't need it. Use the same two
screws on the new PSU.
The old PSU is held in by a green tab on the inside of the case. Tap it down and the old PSU will release. Put the new
PSU in and you will hear a quiet click from the tab. Be careful, there are two 4-pin connectors, one goes to the mobo, the
other one is not usable for this Dell (its wrapped with the 20-pin main mobo cable that you do use). There is a label on
the unusable one, but it's not that clear.
The new PSU isn't really quieter; it's whine is different but not really louder.

Cons: The real problem: StarTech was very generous on cabling and connectors, but there is a bad side: bending the cables out of the way, so the case can be closed. On the Dell 400sc, you want to bend the mobo power cable in a circle to the right of
the 5.25in. CD drive bays (especially the long green rails that hold the drives in place).

I don't need the PCIe cable at all, so I snaked it around the edge of the mobo, smooshing it flat. You have to keep the area
near the 5.25 in. bays clear as much as possible to get the case to close. Re-arranging, smooshing cables, and shoving
unused cables into the empty floppy bay, took more time than installing the PSU.

Other Thoughts: Bought this because the stock PSU didn't have enough on the 12v rail to power a Zoltac GT610 PCI video card (16A max on 12v rail). This PSU has 29A on dual 12v rails.

This unit accommodates Dell's crazy design choice to leave no room for the on/off switch on a regular ATX PSU. You won't need to chop up the metal cage on the back.

1 out of 5 eggsBig trouble ps blew up

Pros: Shipment arrrived on time

Cons: After a few months, I turned on the surge protector and the power supply made a HUGE arcing sound, smelled like electronics burning. I sure hope it didn't kill the motherboard or CPU. What a piece of junk this thing is. I recommend HIGHLY purchasing a different brand. I have worked with computers over 20 years, and NEVER had a power supply arc and blow up like this.

Other Thoughts: Do some research on other brands. This one is a "dell replacement" model. Better pay a little more than destroy the entire computer. :(

5 out of 5 eggsPSU for Dell Dimension 8200/8300

Pros: Perfect fit. More power than the original. Includes SATA power connectors. Started right up with no problems.

Cons: One of the connector pairs should have have been wired a couple inches longer. It just barely reached the lower hard drive.

Other Thoughts: This is the second one I have had the pleasure (?) of installing. This one went into a Dimension 8200. The first one went into an 8300. The first one has been running flawlessly for 6 months.

5 out of 5 eggsDell 8300 Lives Again

Pros: Fit the 8300 perfectly with no alterations required. The leads provided fit all my components (2 opticals, 2 SATA HDs, AGP GSU and motherboard). Installation was easy and only took about 15 minutes. Fired up first try and no more blinking amber power button!

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsSuper easy to replace, works great

Pros: Easy to install, simple design. Fan is much quieter than the old one. Good construction

Cons: Could be challenging for people who have not replaced computer parts before! MANY many many different connector cords. Could confuse people! Keep track of where your old power supply cords plugged in, and what type they were before you remove it completely or else installing the new one could be confusing!

Other Thoughts: My dad has a Dell Dimension 2300 [I believe that is the model number], and the power supply was going out on it. The fan was also noisy and tended to make odd noises. Ordering one on here was easy, and it arrived fast.
Replacing the power supply was also really simple. It took me 30 mins, just because I like to take my time with things. If you've replaced a bunch of computer parts before, or are gung ho, you can probably be done in 15 mins or less easy.
I also wanted to make sure I did not confuse what cords went where, so that took some extra time. Mark the cords with zip ties or something if you are a visual person. It helps.

This power supply worked great! It's still going strong, and silently.

4 out of 5 eggswatch the amperage!

Pros: -A perfect replacement for Dell psu.
-The one I still have works great.

Cons: Maybe a little lean on the amperage.

Other Thoughts: I have put two of these units into two different Dell towers. The first was for an upgraded gpu (to an ATI 4670) in a newer computer. The second was also for an upgraded gpu (to an nvidia 7600) in an older Dell that had an AGP slot instead of pci-e. Although this psu supplies sufficient voltage for both gpu's, I couldn't get it to work with the 7600. I came to find out that the psu can only handle 14 amps on the 12-v 4-pin peripheral connectors, and the 7600 requires 20 amps. I hadn't even considered this as a possibility. As always, Newegg's customer service was great, and I got a replacement with little hassle. Just let this be a cautionary tale: if you are trying to put in an older, power-hungry gpu, make sure that this psu can supply sufficient voltage AND amperage.
