Very good product
Pros: Works quite well with Windows systems. VNC host built into the switch; supports both "Native" VNC and JAVA/Web clients - automatically launches Java/Web client. Indeed, overcomes the limitation of some Windows apps that have a video overlay that will NOT show up on a VNC client running under Windows, but WILL show up using this KVM.
Cons: Since this takes the VGA out from a computer, creates a bitmap, and lets you view it THROUGH THE KVM SWITCH ITSELF, the display redraws can be a little slow, but the trade-off is worth it. You can get a balky machine working and THEN go in through Logmein, PCAnywhere etc.
Other Thoughts: This is one cool tool. You connect the KVM to the network, open a port on your firewall, and the video is transmitted over the LAN/WAN DIRECTLY FROM THE KVM SWITCH. Since this is not OS-dependent, with a remote power switch (Startech sells one and there are others), you can restart the computer, press DEL or whatever, go into setup, and tweak the BIOS.

avoid this unit
Pros: nice feature set, but don't expect to have this work with anything other than Windows systems
Cons: doesn't work with VMware hosts or other console connections. Startech has never made a single firmware update available and their support on the product is terrible. Stick to Startech for consumer products only
