4 out of 5 eggsVery nice KVM. But it doesn't come with the rail kit

Pros: KVM works as you would expect it to. I'm happy with it. Also the indicator lights above each button is nice since it shows you not only which port you have selected, but also shows which ports have a PC connected to them.

Cons: I bought this KVM specifically to go into my rack because it appeared to be 1U rackmountable. Technically it is rackmountable, but it doesn't come with the necessary hardware to do it. You need to buy the STC−SV431RACK bracket kit separately. And it ain't cheap. Really, Startech, I have to pay an extra 40 bucks for two little metal rack ears? You couldn't have included that in the box?

Other Thoughts: To the other guy who was surprised that it didn't include any cables - of course there aren't any cables. That's a selling point, not a con. You're supposed to buy the appropriate length and quantity of KVM cables you need separately. Would you be surprised that a 5-port network switch doesn't come with 5x ethernet cables? Or that 1-to-4 HDMI splitter doesn't come with 4x HDMI cables? No... because there's no way to know what length of cable is appropriate for your installation, you but it separately.

5 out of 5 eggsJust To Be Clear

Pros: Looks dandy.

Cons: I just wanted to point out that on the manufacturer's website it lists "What's In The Box" and does NOT list cables.

Not a big deal except according to the pictures it shows you will need four male-to-female VGA cables. Hard to find (I'm IT and my tech closet filled with cables has none) and somewhat expensive to buy.

I've decided not to buy this because of that and I wanted others to realize even if you have a bunch of VGAs lying around, this still may not work for you out of the box. You may end up paying double before you're switching between computers.

4 out of 5 eggsno OSD, but solid

Pros: Does what it's supposed to do pretty well. Video quality is pretty good, and I have few issues with mouse/keyboard. Sound is ok for analog.

Cons: Not really the manufacturer's fault, but newegg has this listed as "push button/OSD" for how you switch PCs. Unfortunately, this is incorrect; this model does not had OSD (On Screen Display). I verified this with StarTech technical support.

Other Thoughts: Also has a pretty loud beep when you switch machines. Maybe that's good, but I find it annoying.
