4 out of 5 eggsWorks well most of the time.

Pros: Happily supports a pair of 1920x1200 displays using DP to DVI active connectors and USB for mouse and keyboard.

Cons: USB can hang up necessitating turning off all power (and hence all connected computers) to reset it. The good news is that this only happens occasionally when restarting a PC. I have not identified a differences to the restart conditions that triggers it.

Other Thoughts: Generally transparent in operation just wish I did not need to worry when ever I reboot :-)

5 out of 5 eggsGood KVM

Pros: It works!!! High ress monitors play nice with this KVM and I noticed no picture quality issues.

Cons: High DPI mice can't be used used in mouse USB port
No cables included

Other Thoughts: I was going to give this KVM 4 stars but the quality of the image is so good and it does it's job so well compared to the competition that I felt it deserved a 5.

2 out of 5 eggsPretty cheap for features, but you get what you pay for

Pros: • 4 Ports
• dual monitor
• USB support
• speaker/microphone connections
• Cheaper than many comparable units
• Won’t murder you in your sleep

Cons: • At the “maximum” DVI Resolution (1920x1200) the screen is fuzzy, wavy and sometimes has scattered pixel distortions of solid RGB colors. I often have to switch to an empty port then back to “reset” it so I can see the screen. On my laptop’s dock it CAN’T go at this resolution, it’s constantly flickering off then on every couple seconds.
• The audio is dramatically distorted over connecting directly to the speakers. Lots of background buzzing if you turn the sound up.
• The USB switch doesn’t engage correctly sometimes. Every time I wake my desktop up from sleep it comes up but none of the USB devices work so I switch to an empty port then back, which sometimes I must do several times to fix, and sometimes it never works and I have to reboot the desktop.

Other Thoughts: There are very few items I give a “poor” review to but this unfortunately must be one. After months of ownership and hopes that it will eventually work right I just regret having purchased this thing. I originally got it so I could work from my work docked laptop or my personal laptop on the same keyboard/monitor/mouse I use on my desktop. It never quite worked right out of the box, so I updated the firmware to the newest one I could find (which is kind of hard to locate). If I could return it at this point, I would, but I’ve had it too long.
And what’s worse, for the price I paid I could have gotten 2 new monitors a mouse and keyboard instead. Save yourself some trouble and do not buy this unless you have 4 always on computers with monitors that have low resolutions and you don’t care about sound quality much, or if the price goes down dramatically, or if they eventually release firmware that fixes it (which seems unlikely at this point).

2 out of 5 eggsHorrible

Pros: DVI + VGA + USB
Needed something for several computers, each with a dual display, and this works, well - sort of

Cons: It was not the easiest to install. The USB mouse did not work on any of the computers. Tried plugging it through the USB hub instead of the mouse hookup and it worked. Observed some erratic behavior while switching, e.g. , a computer reboots for no apparent reason.

Other Thoughts: I tried following the advice here and upgrade the firmware. It took me a while to find it on the manufacturers website. The instructions were horrible. I did it anyway. That did not fix the mouse problem. Then I discovered the FW I installed, "latest" from the website, is v. 1.03 whereas the original shipped with it was v. 1.04. There was no way to email the company, so I used the Live Chat feature. They would not send me the new FW, but said to get 1.04 I have to ship it back to the factory. Ridiculous! This switch may be going back to NewEgg soon.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great after upgrading firmware!

Pros: Finally! It now works correctly AFTER updating the firmware located in the drivers download from the product home page. I have been using this switch for over 6 months at work and it has never worked correctly. I too suffered the same problems others experienced with the sticky keys, Alt-Tab not working, etc. After 1 hour of putting up with that initially I just gave up on using the dedicated mouse and keyboard USB ports and used the additional two general purpose ports (thus no hot-swapping, not really an issue for me since I didn't even install the drivers on my systems--I really wanted my switch to be transparent to my computers). Anyway, this still didn't work because switching sources sometimes took 15+ seconds (if at all) before my keyboard and/or mouse were functional again. I finally just gave up and was only using this switch to share monitors between my different computers (that has always worked great, btw). Then I found out about this update and now everything seems great.

Cons: 1-Firmware shouldn't have been released in the Driver package. I remember looking at the manufacturer's product page right after I got it. I didn't see anything about firmware in the downloads section, so I figured they didn't have any firmware updates.
2-After upgrading the firmware, I still show the same version. Perhaps they just consider this a patch rather than a new version, which seems a little weird...oh well, as long as it works.

Other Thoughts: I have never tried the audio/mic switching, so I can't comment on its functionality. Like I mentioned above, monitor switching has always been rock solid. Now keyboard and mouse switching seem solid with no noticeable delay when switching.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Has been a great unit for us

5 out of 5 eggsNever had a problem

Pros: Bought this unit from another vendor and it has been outstanding. Never had any of the issues that the other reviewer had with it repeating keys. We use it in our computer lab all day long to switch between customer computers.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Sometimes you will need a PS2 Keyboard or Mouse as some systems have difficulty with USB only, especially older systems.

2 out of 5 eggsNot so much

Pros: It works and switches between vga and dvi - excellent

Cons: when typing, this KVM switch skips keystrokes, repeats keystrokes, and far to often will repeat the last letterrrrrrrrrrrrr or twowowowowowo that you typed until you hit the backspace keyeyeyeyey. While that was meant to be funny and/or amusing, it is in fact what is happening.

Other Thoughts: these problems are present on two of these kvm switches we purchased - bot are going backkkkkkkkkkkkkk.
