4 out of 5 eggsGood product, but may not be too small for your hard drive.

Pros: Simple to assemble, comes with a screw driver for the tiny case screws and a leather pouch. Great product for the price.

Cons: Only fits SATA drives under 9.5mm.

Other Thoughts: I had three hard drives that needed to be put into cases. Two were from laptops(an 80gb and 250gb) and the third was a 1tb from a Seagate external HD. I purchased two of these hoping that they would all fit and pick up the third one later. Unfortunately, only the 80gb fit. The 250 was about 10.5mm The owners manual specifies the maximum height, but I didn't see it anywhere in the product details on newegg.com.

4 out of 5 eggsworks

Pros: Drive fits

It works

Cons: Small chip in the plastic, but it caused no problems

Screwing in the screws it is easy to screw a little too tight and then pliers are needed

Drive fits in nicely but you have to fight to get it out

Other Thoughts: Great except the manual did not have the dual cable picture that I accidentally thought went with my external TB that came the same day.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent External Case

Pros: Comes with Y-Branch USB Cable for extra power to hard drive and screw-driver to help with putting in the hard-drive.

Cons: The Tiniest Screws I have ever seen on a piece of technology, very easy to loose if you are not careful.

Other Thoughts: For the price this is a good deal.

5 out of 5 eggsWorked as intended

Pros: -pretty fast over USB2
-led light indicates activity
-included y-usb connector for older machines

Cons: -cheap plastic construction feels bendy

Other Thoughts: Although it feels kinda cheapy, it holds a 250GB sata drive i had lying around fine with the included screws. pretty fast considering its usb 2. would buy again if nessecary.

2 out of 5 eggsUnable to boot or install Win7

Pros: This device works ok for hot-plugging a drive and swapping data, which is likely what most would use it for.

Cons: I need to use a USB or PCIe connected drive on a Mini-ITX motherboard to leave the onboard SATA ports free for testing. Unfortunately, when trying to boot using two different known good Windows 7 drives, they both "blackscreen" and reboot when connected with this item. When attempting either a repair or fresh install, Windows yields error messages (yes, all USB items have been enabled in BIOS).

Other Thoughts: I've heard these will boot from Linux but haven't tried.

5 out of 5 eggsA Great Product

Pros: A great product, this allows my to use my 2nd 2.5’ SATA HDD as a external HDD also when not in my laptop as the main HDD. It works perfectly, haven’t had any trouble with it yet.

Cons: None that I can think of

Other Thoughts: The one think I noticed, is that you have to have both USB connections on the cable connected to your PC/laptop to use the device. One is used for data (and power?) and the other USB connection is for extra power to run it. Sort of seems odd to me since it’s just a HDD, but I’m not a hardware expert so maybe this is normal. Just wanting to point this out.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for me!

Pros: Does everything it is supposed to do. No trouble for WIndows 7 to recognize and install the drive. Dissapates heat well. I did add 4 small pads on the bottom to give clearance underneath. Don't know if that was really necessary. I'm happy with the unit.

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsThe Capacity Support

Pros: Looks as if it good

Cons: None that I've seen from Reviews

Other Thoughts: What is the capacity of this unit? I'm looking to purchase the WD Scorpio Blue 320GB 5400RPM Sata HD.

5 out of 5 eggsMy favorite enclosure model

Pros: truley bus powered, no use for 2nd usb port to power on most computers. My MacBook, and Philips DivX player read it just fine without the need for additional power. Easy assembly. Only 2 screws! though they are tiny, but don't worry Startech has included a small screwdriver. You wont find a smaller, slimmer, lighter enclosure out there either. The brand is somewhat less recognizable than others but i also use a StarTech s-video to VGA/HD Video scaler daily and their products are well built and incredibly reliable.

Cons: Comes with 2 port usb cable, would be nice if it came with an extra single port usb cable as the 2nd port (for power) is rarely ever needed. No biggie really.

Other Thoughts: I originally purchased this, in silver finish, from a local computer shop for about $30. Have owned that enclosure for more than a year, used it for the old drive when i updated my MacBook's 80GB HD to 250GB. Well, now i'm updating the computer again to 500GB internal (WD Scorpio Blue) so i ordered the black model to hold my 250GB drive and using it as a media drive for my Philips DVD/DivX player.
