This dual drive SATA HDD Dock provides fast, convenient access to 2.5” or 3.5" SATA (SATA, SATA II, SATA III) hard drives (HDD) or solid state drives (SSD) through either USB or eSATA, without ever having to open a computer case or mount hard drives in an enclosure. Supporting one or two drives, SATADOCK22UE can be connected to the host computer through either USB 2.0 or eSATA - then, it's just a matter of inserting the desired 2.5" or 3.5" SATA drives (or combination of both) into one of the two (or both) docking station slots for instant access.

The docking station supports plug and play installation on most operating systems, making it a perfect solution for data recovery, drive imaging, software testing, or any environment that requires fast access to massive amounts of data (uninstalled or archived hard drives etc.). Plus, SATADOCK22UE features a small form factor design that requires minimal desk space for permanent connection to the host computer and provides enough hard drive surface exposure to optimize dissipation of operating heat.

SATADOCK22UE supports any 2.5" or 3.5" SATA drive and data transfer speeds of up to 1.5 Gbps (using eSATA) and 480Mbps (using USB 2.0) between host and dock - ensuring effortless data dumps or backups and hassle-free file transfers. The inclusion of a high-output power adapter versus other competitive dual drive dock models ensures stable performance for even the latest power hungry high-capacity hard drives. The value of this hard drive docking station can be extended, using a SATA to IDE hard drive adapter (SAT2IDEADP), which enables you to use any 2.5 or 3.5in IDE hard drive in a SATA hard drive dock slot.

  • newegg Dual Slot, Three Ports HDD Dock Equipped with two eSATA ports and one USB 2.0 port, the StarTech SATADOCK22UE HDD dock enables easy and quick access to two 2.5"/3.5" HDDs/SSDs at up to 1.5Gbps (via eSATA) or 480Mbps (via USB) data transfer rates.
  • newegg Ease of Use A top slot-loading design and unique drive ejection mechanism provides hassle-free installation and removal without having to install drives into an enclosure or tray. Power button with integrated Power/Activity LED indicator for each drive allows intuitive, error-free operation.
  • newegg Power Adapter Included A high-output power adapter is included to provide reliable power for large capacity/high RPM SATA hard drives.

1 out of 5 eggsissues

Pros: I own two of these. Setup is simple.

Cons: I bought one of these a few years ago, and it worked fine. I have since upgraded my drives to higher capacity, and an issue became apparent: not enough power is provided to the hard drives so that they both can run. I am fine if I turn one off and then turn a second on, but if both are turned on at once, they will keep uninstalling and getting recognized by windows as unformatted discs. They spin up, power down, disappear, etc. I have two of these units, and it happens with both. When I called Startech, they first said it was a cable issue, then a power supply issue, and then that both devices were faulty.

Other Thoughts: If I had known this would happen, I would have just saved the money and bought the single bay devices. I think the newer hard drives, (mine are lower power and green and high capacity) just need more juice than the device can deliver.

4 out of 5 eggsThey work

Pros: Takes two drives, has eSATA and USB 2.0 ports.

Cons: If I had to pick at anything, the dock is kind of bulky.

Other Thoughts: Purchased a pair of these for our tech bench at work so we can image and wipe hard disks more quickly than our existing dock-less single SATA/IDE to USB adapters.

1 out of 5 eggsBroken on Arrival

Pros: None Yet

Cons: The doors of the docking slots arrived broken. Big disappointment. StarTech can't possibly be a ISO 9001 company.

5 out of 5 eggsNifty little device!

Pros: Allows use of 2 sata drives in a hot-swapable configuration.
esata & USB
2.5" & 3.5" capable
individual drive power

Cons: Each drive has it's own independent esata connection. This may not be a con for some, but originally I thought this enclosure used a single esata connection that supported 2 drives, however, that is not the case.

The package does come with 2 esata cables, but the laptop I'm using this for only has 1 esata connection. So if I need to use both drives at the same time I'll be limited by the 35MB/s speed of usb.

Still not enough for me to drop an egg over...no pun intended :)

Other Thoughts: Good price for multiple drive support, does exactly what it should, lightweight, and firm support.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Although it's plastic (as most dock/toasters are), it feels sturdy and well made. The power button, drive eject button and ports are all solid.

It's great having two drives each with it's own eSATA line for speed and a shared USB 2.0 for when eSATA isn't available on a computer. Also nice to have the flexibility of either 2.5" or 3.5" drives.

Cons: none

4 out of 5 eggsEasy and Simple

Pros: Very simple to use. Just read the instructions on how to get a new hard drive to work on it and then it worked fine.

Cons: Sometimes the disk doesn't show but a simple unplug and plug in fixes it.

4 out of 5 eggsfirst impression, sweet..

Pros: install and compatibility - it's like using 'windows explorer' and it's simple as that.
LED's for activity lights are real-time active.
eSATA ans well as USB.
size and design.

Cons: why I didn't get one years ago, seriously my bad.
would like a little sturdier feel, maybe better materials, have to pay attention and handle carefully.
non-standard power supply is so 2002 not 2012..

Other Thoughts: trying to decide on whether to get the drive dock adapter kit.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Dock

Pros: Great dock and very easy to use to store or recover data. There is no need to unscrew/screw an enclouse to swap drives.

There are a few bad reviews there. I think they are unfair. The spec clearly states "Max Drive Capacity: Tested up to 2TB". You complain about "not support 3TB drives" and gave it 1 star?

Cons: None
