5 out of 5 eggsworks great

Pros: simple to install, has all the cables and connectors, nothing else to buy. plug it in and it just works. I've been using one for over a year every day and just bought a second

Cons: not much

Other Thoughts: I was looking for a simple usb based KVM to replace an old PS2 style. I use it every day in my office to switch between 2 computers, works great and is simple to use

4 out of 5 eggsSimple and Effective

Pros: Dead simple to set up and use, and works like a charm

Cons: The cables on the computer side of the KVM are short. They work well if the various ports are close (i.e. a tower) but are too short if the ports are spread out (i.e. a laptop). If you want to use this as a laptop dock, make sure your K, V, and M ports are all near one another.

2 out of 5 eggsNot compitable w/monitor

Pros: Keyboard/mouse interface work great

Cons: After 2 months started having problems with my VGA monitor. The KVM Switch Causes monitior darkness on either PC. I have to keep switching the monitor plug back and forth between the two PCs.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed again

Pros: I'm finding it increasingly difficult to find anything good to say about this switch.

Cons: After the previous switch failed and was replaced by Newegg (major kudos to Newegg for being awsome!) now the replacement is beginning to fail after less than three months. It is no longer worth the cost of shipping to send this trash back.

Other Thoughts: Calling this thing trash is actually a disservice to all garbage. It is not worth the cheap plastic it's made from. I would strongly suggest seeking alternative brands if you're looking for a kvm switch.

1 out of 5 eggsProduct failed.

Pros: Very nice in terms of smooth and easy switching between computers. The magnet on the backside of the small button switch is definitely a plus as well.

Cons: This KVM switch began flaking out after five or six months, failing to switch either the keyboard or mouse and often losing one or the other entirely. At first I thought the batteries must be dying in the wireless keyboard, as that's what it felt like was happening with total loss of keyboard input to either computer but then it started doing the same thing with the wired mouse, and after switching to a wired keyboard to no avail the problem clearly lies with the KVM switch.

Other Thoughts: This would be an excellent switch if reliability and consistency were listed in the pros. However, I simply cannot abide by products that fail so spectacularly and so early in their life-cycle, causing no small amount of frustration. KVM switch, meet garbage bin; garbage bin, meet KVM switch.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with wired Logitec products!

Pros: Works with wired Logitec products.

Cons: Giving up my old wireless keyboard and mouse. Remembering to switch to pc being booted, so that my old rig won't loose keyboard or mouse (reconnecting offending cable fixes this, no restart required).

Other Thoughts: Went with VGA because Digital KVM switches too costly and unreliable at this time. Logitec Iluminated keyboard and LX3 mouse.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding!

Pros: Supports two USB devices (keyboard plus mouse), also two audio devices (speakers plus mic). No bulky box that you have to find a place to put, or to take up space on your desk. The remote switch is a great feature! Cables and connectors seem well made and heavy duty, not cheap and flimsy.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: It's tough to beat this price for a KVM that supports a USB mouse and keyboard. Most cheaper KVMs expect one or both to be the old PS2-style instead of USB. I don't have a need for the extra mic connector, but it's a nice bonus.

My desk has a horizontal steel channel underneath for running cables. The Startech is slim enough to sit right in that channel with the rest of the cables it connects to, which is an ideal arrangement. I snaked the tiny remote switch up to the keyboard tray, where it sits unobtrusively next to the keyboard. I didn't expect to care, but now I can't imagine even considering any KVM that doesn't have a remote switch.

3 out of 5 eggsneed some info

Pros: So I need some info on this, I hope someone can help.

First I need to know about the cable lengths

Second I need to know if this will be compatible with a wireless mouse and keyboard as I am finding most kvm's are not. In particular I have a Logitech S-510 wireless desktop.

I had a Rosewill mini usb kvm that was good, but it died. (6 months use, get what ya paid for I guess, 20clams)

Cons: I find most of the descriptions for kvm switches to be extremely lacking.

Also I don't know what Logitech's problem is but they will not make any products compatible with ANY kvm switch.

Welcome to the 21st century guys.

Other Thoughts: Maybe kvm switches will be in vogue in another 5 years.

Til then getting them to work fully is a royal pain.
