Pros: This is a follow up to my first review about the design flaw of the two female ports being about 1/8 inch too close to each other. See cons below.

Cons: Today the controller gave up the ghost and refuses to boot any of my flash drives. I had reverted to plugging in only one USB 3 drive in lieu of stressing out the ports. Alas it died anyway, just about 3 weeks after I received it from Newegg. Not good, considering the relatively high price tag.

Other Thoughts: I recommend choosing another brand until Startech gets their QA/QC in order.

Pros: Quality construction; bright LED's for Activity (blue) and power (green); nice snug snap-in USB devices (not loose).

Cons: The two female ports are about 1/8 inch too close to each other, resulting in one of my two USB3 flash drives being titled. It still works, but leaves you with a less than comfortable feeling about connectivity and data corruption should it get bumped. My two USB3 flash drives are an ADATA S102 Pro and a Mushkin Ventura Plus, both relatively diminutive and narrow (~15 mm wide). When you look at the hub on end there is room in the end plate to move the two female ports out about 1/8 inch without redesigning the whole hub. Until Startech does that, I'm giving it only 3 eggs and labeling it a design Faux Pas.

Pros: What can you say about a USB hub? Purchased it for my Surface Pro and used it with a USB 3.0 drive and a mouse. Both worked great. The short length in cable was a plus for me because I use it just with my Surface.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: A little spendy but it does what I needed it to do. The LEDs can be very bright. The power is green the USB ports are bright blue.

Pros: -tiny hub; not an eyesore, easily placed anywhere with a piece of velcro (not included)
-nice LEDs. Green one when the hub is plugged in. Two blues, one for each device plugged in.
-6" cord
-no power adapter (wall wart) needed

Cons: -a bit expensive but USB 3.0 is newish anyway

Other Thoughts: I bought this hub because I needed to extend the range of my microsoft wireless mouse 5000 (Great for big hands unlike the 6000 BTW) and microsoft Arc keyboard for my HTPC. As it was, the wireless transceivers were plugged into the front USB 2.0 ports on my case, which was located on the bottom shelf of my AV stand. Due to the table between the keyboard & mouse and the transceivers being so low to the ground, the advertised 30' range was more like 8'.

Anyhow, I used velcro and placed this hub on top of my center channel speaker with both keyboard and mouse transceivers plugged in. I also used a matching 1 meter StarTech USB 3.0 cable plugged into a USB 3.0 port on the back of my HTPC. I now had a direct line of site between the keyboard and mouse to the transceivers plugged into the hub stealthly sitting on my center speaker.

Odly enough, performance was worse at first which made no sense. I plugged the hub and 1 meter extension into a rear USB 2.0 port instead of 3.0 port, and boom, all the sudden I had full range with the keyboard and mouse from anywhere in the room with great response. Of couse the transceivers are USB 2.0 and the hub is backwards compatible, I'm just not sure why the transceivers were crippled on my computers rear 3.0 jack but fine with the rear 2.0 jack. But whatever the case, I like the hub for being discrete, it feels solid, the LEDs are a nice touch, it doesn't need external power, and I have an extra pair of USB 3.0 ports in reach now.

Pros: Small, connects quickly

Cons: not small enough, not invisible?

Other Thoughts: I use this to overcome a problem with my WD "My Passport" 2 TB drive and my Alienware laptop with an Intel chipset. It seems that the WD SES driver and the Intel eXtensible driver do not get along and this drive disconnects frequently. A simple hub resolves(or workaround) the issue, and this is the smallest hub I have found yet. Does anybody make a 1-port hub?
