Pros: I bought this for backup media that was installed in a Dell PowerEdge T620. Less than 1/3 the time we can swap out the disks and everything works OK. The newly inserted drive works right off the bat. Other times, we insert the disk, and it doesn't show up in disk management, but if you rescan the disks, it may show up. At this point, we usually have to reassign the drive letter. Probably more times than not, we scan the disks, but it doesn't show up. We may have to pop it in and out 3 or 4 times before it shows up, and then we have to assign the drive letter. At this point, our backup shares are missing. I'm probably going to ask NewEgg to take this back - it simply isn't working the way we need.

Cons: It just doesn't work correctly on a PowerEdge T620.

Other Thoughts: I specifically asked the question as to whether or not the system would recognize the new media without requiring a separate/special SATA card that might be able to handle the drives being inserted/removed on the fly, and I was told it wasn't needed. In this case, it doesn't work.

Pros: Solid quality. When attached to circuit board, the hard drive has ZERO play in the enclosure. Comes with all cables needed, including a molex AND sata power adapter. Holes line up perfectly for mounting.

Cons: Just one. A minor one. It does not fit 15mm high drives. I had got a 2 TB drive to put in it, but it was a 15mm drive, and it would not fit. Sent the drive back and got a 1TB 9mm one. Oh well.

Other Thoughts: This device is awesome. It's a solid construction easy install build. I'm gonna put one in my personal build.

Pros: Replaced an identical Vantec EZ Swap which was a USB 2.0 unit. This unit screams on USB 3 and works as intended.

Hooked up to an LSI 1068 sas/sata card hot swap works.

Cons: While docked (not on USB) the activity light continuously flashes, so you see the green solid light and the red light flickering non stop, annoying when I turn the light off and can see it flickering in the distance.

Also the back plastic plate of the USB enclosure doesn't line up perfectly flush so when ejecting needs to be tilted a bit.

Other Thoughts: Wish Icy dock made a full metal one of these. Metal + better build would be sweet.

Pros: This replaced a SATA 1.5 unit with the same exact internal dock system and enclosure (except the daughter board and controller chip). The USB 3 speeds are almost identical to SATA 3.0 (My HDD and enclosure are rated for SATA 6.0, but the SATA port on the motherboard is only SATA 3.0). My last adapter lasted 5 years, and I expect this one to last just as long.

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: The old unit, which looks identical to this one, with an updated controller chip on the daughter board, is being passed onto a friend after 5 yrs of use in my systems. I expect this new unit to hold up just as well as the last one did.
