4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: - Displayport
- USB 3.0
- Works great with my 2560x1440 monitor and USB 3.0 hub, connects to every computer I've tried through Displayport
- No issues whatsoever so far
- Comes with lots of cables

Cons: - Only 2560x1600@60Hz (probably good enough for most, but will not drive a 4K display, or abnormally high refresh rates)
- Pricey

Other Thoughts: - Would be nice if this had higher display bandwidth... since Displayport allows chaining of multiple displays through a single cable... in theory, this would allow one Displayport KVM to switch multiple monitors simultaneously, if it could support the added bandwidth required for both (or 3!) monitors. Sadly there is no KVM on the market that is capable of this that I am aware of.

- No display emulation, switching between computers will cause the switched-away-from computer to notice the monitor disconnection and move windows and desktop around. Not an issue for me but perhaps for some.

This is the best line of Displayport KVMs on the market at the moment IMO, even with these limitations.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid -- seriously flawed design.

Pros: Well packaged, reasonable form factor, provides all needed cables, supports USB 3.0 and is easy to switch between systems. The cons very greatly out weigh these few pros.

Cons: By far the most serious flaw of this KVM is that it does not support a useful range of refresh rates. In particular this KVM will not work with an Asus Swift ROG PG278Q unless the refresh rate of said monitor is *severely* dialed back. But the high refresh rate is a significant reason that one would want the PG278Q monitor.

The second serious flaw is that this KVM does not support monitor emulation. In practical terms this means that when the display is switch from one system to the other, the system that is switched away from thinks it no longer has a monitor. In the case of Windows, this results in the desktop icons being rearranged. This is very annoying.

Another problem that I would have been willing to live with had the KVM proven otherwise satisfactory is that the lights on the KVM are distractingly bright and often times flash.

Prior to purchasing the KVM, I diligently contacted StarTech support who assured me that this KVM would support the PG278Q. But it does not and because of this misinformation, I wasted time/money trying this KVM.

Not recommended at all. Avoid.

Other Thoughts: This is not a negative reflection on Newegg. Newegg has always treated me more than fairly. Newegg will certainly continue to my go-to purveyor of electronics related goods.
