This review is from: StarTech.com 2 Port SuperSpeed USB 3.0 HDMI KVM Switch with Audio and Cables
Pros: This is a reliable KVM. (My computers run Windows 8.1 and XP.) I like the 2 extra ports of the switched USB hub. USB 3.0 seems well implemented, as I measured no throughput difference between plugging a USB 3.0 flash drive directly into my computer's USB 3.0 port. One of the two included USB cables didn't work, but the manufacturer readily sent a replacement. Manufacturer support was easy to reach, with no difficult-to-understand foreign accent.
Cons: The product brochure claims "Switch USB hub independently from the active PC", but the manual (revision 03/31/2014) says nothing about such functionality. Manufacturer support told me to use key sequences ScrLk+ScrLk+Z and ScrLk+ScrLk+X to bind and unbind the hub ports to a given PC, but I have never gotten this to work. Thus, the hub ports always switch to the active PC. That's as I typically desire, but don't count on the independent switching that the brochure claims.
Other Thoughts: I was lucky to find this product, considering the search interface under NewEgg's KVM Switches. The product is not found if I make ANY selection(s) in these search categories:
